Lucky discovery
By ,
Having spent a few months in Florence many years ago, and knowing my way around the city, I was looking for a hotel located within walking distance of the main cultural attractions, but away from the hectic city center. Hotel Silla was a perfect choice. A nice small plaza separates it from the Lungarno (the street that runs along the Arno River). From the terrace restaurant you get a nice view of the plaza, the river and the city skyline. Also, arriving at an elegant courtyard after a long city walk is far more pleasant that getting back to a small, crowded reception. The staff was kind and helpful, and my room (a triple) ample and comfortable., and reasonably priced. Florence is a jewel, but summer crowds can make it a bit suffocating. Hotel Silla lets you breathe.

Excellent experience at Hotel Silla
By ,
My wife and I very much enjoyed our 4 night stay at Hotel Silla. The hotel is extremely well located just across the Arno and less than 10 minute walk from the Uffizzi. The area was quiet and the park in front of the hotel was very convenient. The property was very clean throughout and well maintained while we were there. The air conditioning was quite effective as well. The front desk staff in particular were very helpful. They were quick and sincerely accomodating when asked to recommend and make bookings at the local museums and restaurant. All of their recommendations were excellent. One touch which my wife really enjoyed is that our room (#31) had a rocking chair. The rooftop terrace for breakfast was very pleasant, but the buffet could be improved. At 120 euro per night, we felt that it was a good value compared to the other hotels we stayed at during our two week trip to Italy.

Away from the hubbub, but close enough to walk.
By ,
Good location. Good breakfast, with eggs, and other hot dishes. Helpful staff in planning activities. It's right over the bridge from Ponte Vecchio, so is close but still somewhat removed.

THE BEST OF ITS KIND
By ,
Nothing whatsoever to dislike. The staff comes first. Caring, warm, efficient, knowlegeable. Location: The center of itall. but just far enough away to be peaceful in the maddness that is Florence. The best rooms overlook the terrace, the river, and the little park across from which the hotel sits. Exceptional value and warmth in a world where both things are rapidly disappearing for the traveler.

A perfect little gem! What a great find!
By ,
I just returned from a ten day visit to Florence. Hotel Silla was my home away from home during these warm summer days. The room was small, but comfortable for a single person, it had everything one needed for a visit to this great city: a nice view across the patio, a little park, the Arno and you could even see the Duomo and hear its glorious bells. And the A/C was working! The hotel staff was more than accommodating and helpful, they arranged for a smooth transfer from and to the airport, always made the laptop in the lobby available for those who cannot live without email. The location allows one to get away from the continuous foot traffic of the centro storico, even though all the sights are easily reachable on foot. I also loved the cappuccino and the wonderful breakfast on the patio. Have already recommended the hotel to a friend who will visit in the spring of 2009; and I will certainly stay there again on my next visit. Ciao and arrivederci.

Fantastic Florence
By ,
What makes the Silla fantastic is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They make all the reservations for museums and sites you wish to see. Their recommendations for dinner are outstanding. We loved the threes days we were at the Silla so much that we came back to the same place before leaving Italy. They get our outstanding rate for making our first trip to Italy memorable.

I want to go back
By ,
We were looking for an hotel close to the Center and the Arno, we expected we would have to pay 200e or more. But we foundsilla right on the river, close to the center. Grand entrance in this very old building, a warm welcome, English and French spoken. This is what we needed after a long fight. Rooms are quite small, very clean, overlooking the garden and quiet. Buffet breakfast is good and coffee excellent, the best part of the breakfast is that you have it on a very nice terrace with a view on the river. For diner asked recommendations to the staff, again we were pleased. for those willing to pay a bit more, but who do not want to pay the prices in the Center, this is the perfect place. I would return anytime.
