A Florence gem!
By ,
I have stayed at Hotel Silla twice and highly recommend it to people traveling through Florence. It is minutes away from all the museums and shops, but is tucked away on "oltoarno" so it is quiet and peaceful. I can't imagine staying any where else in Florence. Kris Hansen Chicago, Illinois USA

optimal place to stay in Florence
By ,
I stayed at the Silla Hotel for 4 weeks and would always come back. The friendly and personal and perfect service, the charming room, the free internet access for my own laptop, the ideal location to all important museums and highlights of Florence, the direct vicinity to the Giardini Bardini and Boboli and the special character of Oltrarno with its shops and good restaurants make this place an ideal and reasonably prized hotel for all seasons and occasions.

Wonderful Room - Convenient Location
By ,
We loved the room, particularly the size. the Hotel itself was a pleasure. It was too chilly to enjoy the outdoor terrace for meals. Breakfast was included and the choices were generous. We also appreciated the location. It was an easy walk to the Ponte Vecchio and other shopping. There were several restaurants on this side of the Arno. Our only frustration was that the Staff recommended a restaurant, but failed to mention the need for reservations and or offer to make one, even when we told them that we planned to go there. However, we would stay there again.

Wonderful hotel
By ,
A great place. very helpful staff. Let us use their computer to get online, check e-mail, etc. brought us wine glasses and plates, silverware for us to use on the nice patio for food we brought from the local markets. Easy walk to all the sights. The only downside would be it's a little noisy on the street side because of a nightclub very popular with the younger crowd in the evening. A room on the other side would be worth requesting.

Affordable Florence Gem!
By ,
We recently spent five days at this hotel in Florence, Italy and would recommend it to all. It is located along the Arno within walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio and all the historical sites. We booked two rooms for the five of us. We stayed on the first floor, and both rooms were large and clean with an abundance of linen towels changed every day. The beds were comfortable, but not luxurious. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was included and consisted of scrambled or soft boiled eggs, various pastries, toast, fruit, cereal, juice, and choice of hot drinks (including cappucinos!). We felt safe and secure in this fairly quiet location. Overall, I would recommend this small, three star hotel for all who are looking for a quieter, affordable, homey, accomodation in Florence.

Very pleasant
By ,
Wonderful small hotel in a pleasant location. The staff are marvelous and very helpful. Not fancy but comfortable and non-institutional feeling. A little walk from the center of things which is worth it for the quiet setting.

Would definitely return to this hotel!
By ,
My parents had stayed here before and recommended it, saying that it was charming, had great service ("Old World manners") and excellent location; this was all true. The staff was consistently helpful and gracious from the first email contact to the last goodbye, and spoke English very well. The hotel (and our room) was immaculately clean, comfortable, quiet, & appealing. A good breakfast with a variety of foods was served on the lovely terrace that overlooks a park across the street. Just a block from the Arno River, it is very conveniently located to the sights and many other conveniences and amenities (all easy walking distance). It is just away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist scene, but near to some restaurant/bars where we had so much fun listening to great music, eating, and watching the beautiful & fashionable locals mix & mingle. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience there, and felt that it was also an excellent value.

Great place
By ,
Hotel Silla is ideally located to many of the main attractions of Florence including shopping and good food. Most were within walking distance. The staff was friendly, gracious and very accommodating. Their continental breakfast was superb and the outdoor patio a delightful respite after a long day of sight-seeing. The room was very clean and comfortable. However, the air conditioner was noisy making a good nights rest difficult. To their credit, the staff was more than willing to relocate us. It was a great place I highly recommend it.

Great price, location, and service
By ,
We loved our stay at Hotel Silla. They were very helpful to us when we realized we picked up the wrong luggage. They also made reservations for us at a local museum before we arrived. They provided maps and directions to places we asked about. The lady that helped with the wonderful breakfast was charming. We loved the location- away from the noisy downtown, but close enough to walk across the Ponte Vecchio into the heart of the city. The room and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable. We took a day trip to Pisa and to Lucca to bicycle around the medieval wall and even drove to Venice for the day.

Perfect location !
By ,
Hotel Silla, Florence, Italy: Perfect location Date: July 29th, 2007 Reviewer: From Shelburne, Vermont Our family of 5, myself, my husband and 3 sons (ages 13, 16 and 18) spent 3 wonderful days in Florence at Hotel Silla. This gem of a hotel is perfectly located. It is situated on the left bank of the Arno river and is a 5 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio and the old town. The breakfast is included and is served on a lovely outdoor terrace lined with beautiful flowers. The breakfast consisted of delicious cappucino, hot chocolate, pastries, egg, fruit, yogurt, ham and more. The serving staff always had a smile and was very attentive. Our room was quiet and spacious (we booked one family room that accommodated all 5 of us) with the most helpful hotel staff we have ever encountered. The hotel overall is quaint.Parking is available at a reasonable price. The staff gave us the best tips about sights, restaurants (La Maremma, our favorite) and shopping. The hotel gives free use of a lap top with internet to their guests and printed directions for us. Next door to the hotel was a small grocery store which was perfect to pick up a snack of bread, cheese, and salami for our always famished boys. I would definitely recommend Hotel Silla as the perfect place to stay in Florence.
