Best Hotel in Florence
By C, 5/18/12
Hotel Silla in Florence has been our choice for the last 12 years. The outstanding features include the professional staff, clean and comfortable rooms, quiet setting overlooking a park that borders the Arno river, elevator, included breakfast. Hotel Silla is located on the quiet side of the Arno, however, we find the location one of the best for proximity to everything. It's just 3 blocks from the Uffizzi, on the D bus line, and abundant restaurants near-by. There's a bar for evening service if that's your desire and a spacious patio with umbrellas. Hotel Silla makes you feel part of the old world that is Florence.

Great hotel, great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/11
We stayed 3 days at the Hotel Silla. The staff was most helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace which is included in the room price. They have an attached garage which took good care of our rental car. The hotel is a comfortable walk from all the major attractions in Florence. Best of all, the Hotel Silla is a great value for the money.

second visit
By Clive, 6/15/11
This was my second visit to the Hotel Silla, tyhe first being in 2005 and although it was not my choice of place to stay, I was very happy to go back there. It is located across the River Arno from the city and also one block back from the river, so is quieter than many other hotels, although a bar down the road did prove to have increased the number of young and noisy clientele in 6 years. This is a popular hotel for US visitors on a coach trip and although they could be loud in the breakfast room, there was no sound from them in the evenings. With the exception of the ladies at breakfast, most of the staff spoke English - even the hall porter, which was a distinct advantage, as I speak no Italian.

Wonderful Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/10
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Silla for 5 days while visiting Florence. Its location was great - just across the Arno river in a quiet area, but within easy walking distance to all Florence sites of interest. The Hotel was spotless, our room very comfortable and an excellent breakfast on a comfortable and scenic terrace was included. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome to their Hotel and city. We will definitely stay at Hotel Silla during our future visits to this wonderful city

Outsiding service and quality of facilities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/10
This is a great place to stay as you visit Florence and Tuscany. It is right across the river from Florence, three block down from Ponte Vecchio. Which gives you the advantage of a view of Florence from across the river but not the hassle and the blocked view from within the city proper. The staff is superb and accomodates every request. By all means this is the palce to stay. Easy to get to by car, train or plane.

prijs / kwaliteit: kan het beter??
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/10
Hotel fantastisch gelegen; 6 min stappen van dé brug. Met de auto heel makkelijk te bereiken. Kamers heel groot. Behang echter oogt niet modern. Zal vermoedelijk een weerspiegeling zijn van de plaatselijke "smaak".

Hidden Gem
By Wally, 4/10/10
The room was rather spacious for a European room. It had a great view of the Arno river. Most valuable about the hotel was the extreme helpfulness of the staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our favorite hotel in Florence
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/17/10
We have stayed in five different hotels in Florence over the past 10 years, and our favorite by far is the Silla. This past New Years (2010) was our fourth stay at the Silla, which has become like a second home to us. The staff is very personable and helpful, the breakfast buffet suits us very well, and the support staff are quite gracious. We have only stayed in rooms 31, 32, & 33, which vary in size (31 is the largest), where the river views are wonderful. Even if it’s raining you can gaze out the window at the panorama across the river. The public areas are small, but our goal in travelling is not to sit in hotel lobbies. While the location is not in the city core, you are still within walking distance, and the nearest bus stop is not far. But for us the location is virtually ideal because of what you find close by in the San Nicolo area: • Food: two of our favorite restaurants: I Tarocchi (pizza!) and Osteria Antica Mescita • Museums: the newly re-opened Bardini Museum and Casa Siviero • Churches: tiny San Nicolo is just around the corner, but straight across the Arno is Santa Croce • And if you need essentials, on the same block are a drug store, a grocery store, and a tabaccheria (for bus tickets). The location is ideal for early morning walks, up to San Miniato al Monte, or to Fort Belvedere, or across to the other side of the river. If you are into nightclubbing (we are not), there are a couple down the street. If you like to engage in people watching, Piazza Demidoff (with park benches) is directly in front of the hotel. Suggestion when booking: ask about available specials. But it’s the location and the people that keep us going back.
