Palazzo Ravizza Hotel, Siena

This is a peaceful hotel with nice gardens. Food was pretty good. A bit of a hike (lots of hills in Siena), but no more than 15 min from everything. Parking is on another street behind hotel -- but park in front to unload bags. Seina police sent (photo camera) me a ticket for driving on road to hotel (only way in on one way streets) - but got it 5 months after visit. I am writing hotel to have it dismissed, so hope they will help -- otherwise advise not to drive here.

The view from my window that overlooked Tuscany was worth every penny spent on my first trip to Europe. The room was very comfortable and for me, a very decent size, as well as the bathroom. The room also overlooked the garden, where dinner was served in the evening. I slept with the windows opened, so I did hear the goings on of dinner time, but that just added to the charm. There is AC, but the nights were very pleasant for July. The service was great and helpful. The hotel is located away from the center of town, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the walking. When I finally make it back to Siena, I will definitely stay here again, and even request the same room.

We went to this hotel largely on the basis of favourable internet reviews. We were not disappointed! It is located within easy walking distance of the city centre (no more than 10 minutes, even for those (like my husband) who walks with a stick.) The staff are extremely helpful, and the garden - used as the restaurant during the summer - is delightful. If you go here, ask for a garden view room. The breakfast is simple, but we found it perfectly adequate. While we did not take a car, we gathered from other guests that it is one of the few hotels in Siena with parking facilites. Another reason, then, to go to this lovely place! Highly recommended

Room 2 was great (bathroom could do with a redesign, but never mind). Room overlooked the front of the Hotel square - not too much traffic noise & completely shut out by windows/shutter if necessary. Service was great - terrace restaurant found us a table even though we hadn't booked & they were in full flow serving a Wedding. Great views and near enough to the centre without being disturbed by the drum bands and singing, slight diversion for a street party -Yes that's Siena for you even outside of Palio time!

The view from our Loft Room Window was worth every penny at this hotel. The Room which was 40 Euro less than the other rooms is on the top floor of this converted palace. The breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in Italy. The location isn't bad, being near the Duomo, but far from the train station. For some reason we walked up the hill from the Train station to the City, which would have been fine without any luggage. Take a taxi for 10 Euro. Siena is a great place to stay, not just visit. The tourist mass seems to disperse around 7pm.

This was the most perfect hotel in Sienna! Located conveniently within walking distance to restaurants and all the sites, plus on-site parking. The views from our room of the garden were spectacular, the hotel staff unbelievably helpful and the restaurant was fabulous too using fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden. I can't say enough about this hotel. My husband and I loved it! We had beautiful frescoed ceilings in our bedroom. The hotel was immaculate too. Because of it's convenient location, we were able to easily walk to the Campo, Duomo, etc. and also drive to the nearby Tuscan towns. I recommend this hotel highly.

Siena is crowded and expensive for the Palio weeks, but this pension is inexpensive and convenient. It is one of the nicest smaller hotels in which we have stayed. The service is very good, it's garden and outdoor resturant are both excellent; ask for a garden view room when booking.

Honymooned there in 1982, and returned in 2005 with teenagers in tow-found it only got better. It now has modern bathrooms, but kept the charm of the great house, with vaults, stone detailing, 10' ceilings, winding stairs, although the lift is welcome in the summer heat. Built on the edge of the walled city, overlooking a classic Tuscan landscape, where the terrace catches the late afternoon sun, you can have a drink, read a 'trashy' novel left in the library by others well travelled. And you're invited to leave your own bit of travel 'literature' for others to enjoy. An excellent location for a romantic, or simply nostalgic, retreat. And the best of Siena is within walking distance, language schools, art gallerys, shops, churches, et al.

I have traveled over much of Italy, stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels, but Palazzo Ravizza is my favorite. The service is excellent, the rooms are large and comfortable with great views. The ristorante in the Hotel is also top notch, both service and cuisine. Looking forward to a return visit.

Helpful staff fit perfectly with the tasteful elegance of this hotel inside the walled city of Sienna. Dinner on the terrace with a panoramic view was my favorite meal while in Italy. This is not 5star luxury, but it is great value, and they have all the basics that are important to me - location, style, view, good food and pleasant rooms. Three free internet computers and free parking are an extra bonus.
