Villa Belvedere Hotel, Florence

Have stayed there three times and recommended to others. If you get one of the rooms with a terrace, you will be treated to a stunning view of Florence (from the south, looking north) especially at sunset. The last rays of the day hitting the cupola of the Duomo is a sight not to be missed. Running battle with these guys: the rooms have no screens and there are a fair number of mosquitos at night. They constantly try to save money by not turning on the AC unless it is over a certain temp outside. The problem in Spring and Fall is that the evening temperature can be quite moderate, but if you open your windows to cool down your room, you will be eaten alive. Pray for hot weather! Pool is tiny, but gardens large, location is quiet and parking on site. You will need to walk or, more likely take a short (not expensive) cab ride in.
