Croce di Malta Hotel, Florence

I loved this hotel..the room was awesome, felt like we were in old Italy. The staff was fatastic, especially this one particular young woman who worked the front desk...we would talk and kid, she recommended places to eat and she would help me w/my Italian. In fact, I actually bought her a bottle of wine as a thank you gift when we left. Had a great time in the "Lounge" drinking espresso and listening to music in the late evenings after sight seeing all day and a great meal at a local Trattoria.We were there in January and all the Christmas decorations were stil everywhere...we loved it completely, and this hotel was a very big part of it. Even though it wasn't an "American style" 5 star type hotel, it is a fantastic place...next time we're in Florence, I surely hope we can stay there again...great memories, hopefully more to come...thanks

The atmosphere when you first walk into the hotel is very subdued. You will notice the modern contempary motif and wish your house was this cool, since it will kind of remind you of a house, small but comfortable. A great place to be is on the roof, just wish you were allowed to go up whenever you wanted. Same with the (pool) which is about the size of an american car but still soaking up the sun and the surroundings was nice. The rooms are very quirky upstairs and down, furnishing not top of the line but still comfortable EXCEPT for the bath department, extremely awkward to maneuver as all the showers in italy seems to be. Location was good, short walk to Train Station, short walk to great shopping (when they are open), we ate out most nights, but the breakfest bar was sufficient.
