Glendalough Hotel, Glendalough

Upon arrival I got booked into a single room and paid for the 3 course dinner and breakfast. I was advised that a party was ongoing in the function room and that "there may be a LITTLE noise until 1am" The music did finish at approx 1am but the revellers sat outside beneath the hotel bedroom windows in the smokers/patio area and drank and partied until after 4:30am. It was akin to something from a bawdy, badly run, cheap Spanish hotel. I phoned reception at approx 03:15am to ask when the noise would finish and the guy didnt care at all that myself and others couldnt sleep. I dont mind a bit of noise but not drunk men and women shouting, whistling and screaming at after 4am. The room was very cramped and the bed didnt fit so it was at an angle to the wall. The hotel was clean and set in very beautiful surroundings. The hotel was seriously understaffed and this made even easy thing like ordering a drink become a hassle. I stood at the bar for almost 20 minutes before I was served then I had to reorder twice as they had ran out of stock! The resturant was an absolute shambles! The food was mediocre and over-priced and didnt at all reflect the glorifying description the menu painted. I was in there for 2 1/2 hrs and I ate alone!!! Service was appallingly slow. I wouldnt recommend eating there to anyone! Breakfast service was worse. I sat for almost 1 1/2 hrs and in that time my order was taken TWICE but still no food arrived. I had a coffee and toast then cancelled my order as I couldnt wait any longer. When I checked out at reception and made my complaints known the two people treated me very dismissively, with no care for anything other than getting me to pay for the drink I ordered with my meal. I will never go back to this hotel nor recommend it to anyone. I found out later that many return visitors book into the Hostel a few yards away! Avoid at all costs!
