Description

This very popular hotel in Salisbury dates back to the 13th century and is thought to be the oldest purpose-built hotel in Britain. The oldest part of the hotel was built some 750 years ago, to accommodate the draughtsmen who were working on Salisbury Cathedral at the time. Today, the Red Lion is a 54-room hotel with modern facilities and is ideal for business or leisure. It has a convenient city centre location with good access to the shops, theatres and cinema. The Victoria Lounge and hotel bar are very popular with the locals. Four-poster and superior rooms are available. Ask about special Getaway Breaks. AA & RAC 3 star. ETB 4 crowns. Highly recommended.

Step back in timeat the Red Lion

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Lion in Salisbury. Parts of this hotel date back to the 13th century, so it has a real old world charm. It has a lovely courtyard. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in the center of town, and is within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and the local sights such as the Salisbury Cathedral. If I ever come back to Salisbury, I would definitely stay at the Red Lion Hotel again.
