Sofitel Lyon Bellecour, Lyon

Although quite a bland looking hotel from the outside, it is superbly situated a few hundred yards form Place Bellecour, within walking distance of the beautiful center of Lyon. (and on the banks of the Rhone river). Breakfast on the 8th floor gives you a breathtaking view of the city center and although a bit pricey is one of the very best I've ever had (bravo to this 4 stars hotel). The interior of the hotel is of a quite understated elegance, but absolutely spotless from the general ambiance, to the flowers, beds and linens, housekeeping to the smiling service. It is more expensive than the other hotels in the Presqu'ile, but for a business traveller or someone enjoying large impeccably clean rooms, flawless service AND access to an amazing city, it is just a perfect perfect hotel. The only thing that I dislike is that while I can afford it during a business trip (all expenses covered), it's a bit steep for me on a vacation.
