Guestrooms include 1 or 2 comfortable beds, air conditioning, cable T.V., desks with lamps, alarm clock, daily housekeeping, wake up calls, safe deposit boxes, electronic keys, hair dryer, and coffee maker. Superior rooms additionally have minibars, bath tub and some offer a nice balcony. Rollaway beds and cribs are available.The hotel features El Patio Restaurant-Bar-Cafe, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks & also provides room service during limited hours. For a relaxing time, enjoy our permanent calendar of live music at El Patio several days a week in its sports bar like facility with LCD screens and satellite TV. Other services at Balmoral Hotel include a fitness facility, business center and meeting facilities with conference rooms & banquet facilities from 10 - 200 people. What amazes me about this beautiful hotel is the straight up fee for a friend to come to your room. It has nice staff, good accomodations and is centrally located, but they need to realize that it is no different than the businessman bringing his secretary or mistress on a trip. Same final result, but they are not charged extra for their mistress or secretary. Is it my fault that I have very short term relationships, sometimes two or three a day.

Great place to stay in San Jose

We stayed at Balmoral two weeks ago, its an hotel centrally located in the middle of the town. There's a new restaurant named "el patio del balmoral"...you never get tired of eating here, is just delicious.

It was wonderful

The hotel is very beautiful. All staff is very helpful and polite. They were attentive and went out of their way to assist us. The service was superb! They also offer tourist excursions. Location is the best in the city in the middle of everything, next to all main attractions. Breakfast is very good and nutritious.

Dont stay here they overcharged me for no reason

My stay at Hotel Balmoral was completely unacceptable. Ther service was poor and the rooms were shabby. Most importantly I was charged $100 from my account for no reason at all. I had already paid for the room and did not incur any expenses. I emailed them to ask why i had been charged without my knowledge and I have never heard back from them. DO NOT STAY HERE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND STEAL YOUR MONEY

I strongly will recommend Hotel Balmoral

We stay a week in Balmoral hotel. We didn’t want to be far from the city but we wanted to have access to the market places, museums, restaurants, and to the Costa Rica´s National Theatre. My wife and I were really pleased with the hotel’s restaurant and also with the really kindly staff. We are a couple of seniors and the size of the rooms were perfect for us. We are waiting for next summer to go and enjoy this wonderful place again. This time we will invite our friends and kids.

A place to saty in San Jose Costa Rica

We stay 10 days in Balmoral hotel. We didn’t want to be far from the city but we wanted to have access to the market places, museums, restaurants, and to the Costa Rica´s National Theatre.The hotel is just in the middle of downtown, very central, safe area, towns of places around. You do not need a car, they have a garage with taxis bilingual. Taxis are red and lots around the area. At night walk on the streets a lot of local selling crafts. The restaurant is open , very tropical atmosfere, live music at nbight in the bar. Across the street hotel presidente, very nice, excellent restaurant. Staff in the hotel is amazing, they use a local term, "it is may pleasure to serve you'. The hotel has a very latin atmosfere, being with a local decoration, you will feel being in Costa Rica, it is very nice, nothing extremelly fancy but has this local atmosfere that you will enjoy.

Nice hotel

The hotel is in a great location, breakfast was great and rooms were clean and enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable, unless you plan bring a few of the local girls up to your room. They charge you about 20 bucks a "pop" no pun intended. If you are there with the Mrs. or strictly on business you can't beat the rates. If you plan to up a few gals for a little extra fun, you are better off across the street at the EL PRESIDENTE. It's a few dollars more a night but they don't hit you up for anything if you bring company back for a visit. I would stay at the BalMoral again though, for a third world country it was very nice.

Great Hotel

The hotel was centrally located and within walking distance to all resources,i.e., museums, stores, market places, good restaurants, ATM's, places of entertainment, etc. The hotel's reception personnel were courteous and always available when needed. The restaurant personell, bar attendants, as well as the room attendants (maids) were also quite courteous. The rooms were kept spotless. An added plus was having Ice delivered to the room punctually at 5:00 pm. The overall hotel experience was excellent. The only disappointment was the hotels travel agent who failed to provide the best information about tours in Costa Rica. Using outside Eco-friendly and State travel agents solved this situation. I would strongly recommend this hotel to any of my colleagues.

Hotel Hospitality...Tico Style!

The Balmoral is old world style hotel located right in the center of everything. I booked my reservations through Yahoo! travel and had no problems upon arrival. We arrived very late due to a mishap with our lugguage but were greeted with the utmost courtesy and attentiveness. A bellhop met us at the door and ushered us in. Minor snafus like an air conditioner outside our door making noise and a broken alarm clock were handled in a prompt manner and staff were extremely apologetic and accomadating. A staff member said that if need be he would personally send someone to knock on our door to wake us. Wake-up calls were always on time. The reservation desk for booking tours had a lot of variety and many seem to take advantage of them. The breakfast that came with the premier room was delicious, including fruit, arroz con frijoles negros and made to order omelets. Overall a satisfactory stay.
