Sugar Beach Condo Resort, Altona

I spent 4 days at the Sugar Beach condos with my boyfriend and our two friends who stayed in a unit just a few doors down. We had a wonderful time and would highly reccommend it to anyone considering it. We all loved the light, airy, island decor of the place and all the amenities that you wouldn't get with a regular hotel such as a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer and full entertainment center. Each unit porch opened up right onto a lovely beach so we could sit on the porch and look at the water or take in the view from the hammock right in front of the porch. I was able to go jogging on the beach which extends out beyond the property. There is also a pool and grills available for use in the same area. I loved that it was about a 7-10 minute drive to the main town of Christiansted and that there were grocery stores a few blocks away. The management and staff were very friendly and helpful and were available for questions. We hope to return again sometime!!

Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone! The beach is not pretty, the motel is outdated, the sheets & curtains were dirty & unclean. its in a sketchy part of town. i was not happy with the location, as the housing projects were next door (withing walking distance). STX is really a beautiful place, but this motel does not do it justice. It is not kept up, and is run down. Looks as though most of the ppl staying there, LIVE there permanently. Dont stay here...find a resort w a pretty, Safe beach (the Divi being one). Sugar Beach debited my debit card w/o my knowledge & I have a very uneasy, unhappy feeling about this place. Wouldnt rec to anyone

My sister and I just returned from spending 10 nights at Sugar Beach. This was our 3rd visit to Saint Croix, and it just doesn't get any better than Sugar Beach. The manager, Steve, was absolutely fantastic! He lives on-site and is able to stay on top of every single detail. The staff was very friendly and helped us make arrangements for day trips, taxis, and everything else we needed. I must have asked a million questions, and they always smiled and seemed to truly care about my vacation. There is a nice clubhouse on-site with free internet, books, music, etc. What a bonus! But, I must admit, the breath-taking view from our 30 ft. long balcony was what hooked me for life. Nonetheless, without the welcoming spirit of Sugar Beach staff, it wouldn't have been nearly so special. If you are planning a vacation in St. Croix, be sure to call Sugar Beach and ask for a recommendation from the staff about the the units that are suited to your needs. All units are individually owned, and let's face it, when it comes to decorating, some people just have better taste than others.

Clean ,friendly and inexpensive ,excellent location, walking distance to local food stores. Beautiful clean swimming pool. All waterfront units with magnificent view Safe beach for the children. We had a super time and will come back

Sugar Beach Condo resort was a great bargain at $98 a dollars a night. It was less than 5 minutes from the main town of Christiansted, where everything is happening. The place itself had all the amenitites including a fully stocked kitchen, a cooler and ice packs to take to the beach, a full sized refrigerator, a nice living room, entertainment center and more. The pool was very nice and the beach was just outside our patio door. We did some of the best snorkeling on the island at our place, as well. We saw stingray, lobster, flouder and plenty of colorful fish. Don't miss the tirepark that is lined up with Smuggler's Cove (a restaurant) Just swim out a bit. There are no restaurants at the resort but as I mentioned Smuggler's Cove it to the left and Breezes is to the right. Both are within walking distance. Other must-visit restaurants include Savant, Dunngan's, Divi's Caribbean Buffet (Thursday nights)and the Case Place. Avoid Fredericksted. There is nothing going on there at all.

Our first experience with Sugar Beach was great. The staff were very helpful, the grounds were well kept, the beach and pool were great. Location was nice, but you are not able to walk to town. There is a bus stop at the end of the driveway where you can catch a bus to town. You can walk west along the beach for about 1 mile. There are alos two great bar and grills on each side of the complex at other condo complexes. We will be back for sure.
