Not bad for the price
We were lucky and had one front desk staff member who was very nice and informative. The lobby (as of September 24, 2007) was quite modern in appearance, although the rooms were just adequate, as was the continental breakfast. Two computers were available for checking e-mail and printing boarding passes. The water in the swimming pool was pleasantly warm. There was construction on one wing going on, which wasn't nice, and the Pueblo supermarket across the street mentioned in an earlier review was in the process of being permanently closed (looked like the site was going to be redeveloped). The on-site restaurant seemed expensive, but the hotel is not too far from some simple restaurants. Parking was valet-only, but the young men parking cars were generally friendly.
At 3 blocks from Ashford/McLeary (the main oceanfront road), the hotel is convenient to the shopping, banks and restaurants more in the heart of Condado to the west, the Ocean Park area to the east, the museums and clubs along Ponce de Leon several blocks to the sout (across the Route 26 freeway), and the Target Rent-a-Car location (not as nice as a Hertz rental, but probably cheaper). The bus ride from the hotel to San Juan is not too long, and the taxi ride to the airport was about $15.
Interestingly, during the week, it seemed like there were several businesspeople staying at the hotel, who were noticeable because they were sitting alone in the breakfast room with their laptops. All-in-all, not that bad of a place.
