This place made my vacation! =)
By Ashli K, 04/19/09
Any hotel that offers hot chocolate chip cookies upon arrival is ok in my book. My boyfriend and I had a awful experience at another hotel and immediately needed somewhere else to stay. The staff were very helpful and found a room for us. The staff was pleasant and extremely helpful. The room was gorgeous with a great view. Supermarket across the street and the restaurant was very good. I was so happy with my stay here. It really did make my trip to Puerto Rico that much better. If we ever return, I will definetly stay there again!!!

Very Nice and Friendly Staff
By ronald, 03/17/09
I liked the location. Contrary to others comments this is a great hotel for the money. The staff has the best customer service i have had in a while. They give you warm cookies when you check in.The room is very stylish and has nice decor and also a flat screen tv with plug ins for dvd player. The Room has a pull down bed so with both beds being used you can sleep four no prob. The elevator was working properly and no long waits. The hotel is across the street from an 24hr grocery store with an atm. Also you are not far from the museum one and a half blocks. The pool fitness room and business center were always clean.I did not check out the restarant it seemed expensive. The lobby is very stlyish and never congested. Now for the things i did not like. There is no free parking the Shower is very nice looking but it is not very good at keeping the water in. It leaked onto the bathroom Floor. We used our extra dry towels to block the slits in the shower door and it worked ok. Would i suggest this room to another. Yes.. I am the type to rent a car when i travel because i dont like being confined to shedules of tour guides and buses. So having a hotel on the strip is not needed. We went to a lot of places during our trip and it was always cool to come back to our room here. There is no free parking so we parked at the 24hr store across the street and snuck to the room while the guard was not looking so FREE for us.

A Good Place To Stay in SJ
By Michael, 03/10/08
When we made our travel plans for the area, we found this to be one of the lesser priced hotels for San Juan. Its about 5 miles from the airport, so taxi cost was only $18 for 4 people and our bags. I rented a car, and since this was close enough to the airport, they came and picked me up to get my car. Because of United Airline flight delays, we had a 1 AM check in (was supposed to be about 5 PM, day before). The night clerk sent us to a room with only one bed, but another night person saw to it that we got the two bed room we had reserved. The staff is friendly, the complimentary breakfast is ok, with rolls, cereal, bananas, oatmeal, toast, juices and coffee available. Breakfast closes promptly at 10 AM, so be sure to get there before then. There are two computers in a room for internet access, and printer (free prints). There is a restaurant, with a piano player in the evenings. We did not check it out, but looks nice. Old San Juan is a short drive away, and HWY 22 and 26 on-ramps are close, for travel East and West. Brush up on your Spanish, because street regulation signs are not bi-lingual. I got a parking ticket (also only in Spanish)in Old San Juan because of this.

Delightfully Surprised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/07
This hotel is perfect for the business traveler. It's by the highway, minutes from Old San Juan, Shopping, casinos, beaches and courthouses. The concept at the Pierre is great. I was told that by this time next year, the whole property will be renovated to 5 star quality. Right now, the service is good and the evening employees are ver well informed on happenings and restaurants. They make reservations for you even though the phones are ringing and they are checking in other guests. The rooms are a bit tired but they are inthe process of changing up everything. I would definitely return.

Not bad for the price
By John, 09/26/07
We were lucky and had one front desk staff member who was very nice and informative. The lobby (as of September 24, 2007) was quite modern in appearance, although the rooms were just adequate, as was the continental breakfast. Two computers were available for checking e-mail and printing boarding passes. The water in the swimming pool was pleasantly warm. There was construction on one wing going on, which wasn't nice, and the Pueblo supermarket across the street mentioned in an earlier review was in the process of being permanently closed (looked like the site was going to be redeveloped). The on-site restaurant seemed expensive, but the hotel is not too far from some simple restaurants. Parking was valet-only, but the young men parking cars were generally friendly. At 3 blocks from Ashford/McLeary (the main oceanfront road), the hotel is convenient to the shopping, banks and restaurants more in the heart of Condado to the west, the Ocean Park area to the east, the museums and clubs along Ponce de Leon several blocks to the sout (across the Route 26 freeway), and the Target Rent-a-Car location (not as nice as a Hertz rental, but probably cheaper). The bus ride from the hotel to San Juan is not too long, and the taxi ride to the airport was about $15. Interestingly, during the week, it seemed like there were several businesspeople staying at the hotel, who were noticeable because they were sitting alone in the breakfast room with their laptops. All-in-all, not that bad of a place.

Good Location, Decent Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/07
Stayed here over the Memorial Day Weekend. *Good Location in Condado, near beach (short walk), across the street from 24 hour Grocery Store and near Bebo's very inexpensive local diner with good local flavor (u can eat for less than 7.00 if you want). *Comp breakfast is very basic....fruit, cereal, danishes..but not at all bad considering it was free. *Wireless and free in room internet worked perfectly. *front desk staff was helpful and cool (gave us a free upgrade) *Left laptops in room (safe to small to fit them in)....no theft problems. *con: no real views to speak of....but we took the bus to Old San Juan (cheap fare and bus stop across the street from hotel) and we walked to the beach for all the views and local flavor. Go to old San Juan and visit the forts!!! Eat cheaply at Bebos!! Walk to Radisson Ambassador and main beach was about 5 minutes and you passed by french bakery, bank, 7 eleven, burger joint, starbucks, and burger king....and thats not even mentioning u also passed the grocery store and Bebo's. .....so yeah.....your not going to need to walk far for anything.

Not a good experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/07
My husband and I along with my mother, who is wheelchair bound, stayed at the Best Western for two nights. First of all, the room was not as big as it seems on the photos, and we had two full size beds instead of queen size beds. The room also had a mild mildew odor. Most disturbing was that my mom left her wallet on the table and a big amount of money was missing when we returned from a family members house. Our mistake was not putting it in the room's safe. I have to admit that the bathroom was huge and comfortable for a handicapped person. Overall, this is not a hotel I will be returning to. I hope this review will help someone else who is planning to stay here.

I loved it!
By ShellyB, 06/07/06
It was my first time there, and I loved the hotel! I was a bit sceptical when going there because it was only a 2 star hotel at the time, but to my surprise...not bad at all. Nothing fancy, but the room decor is tropical, and makes you feel like your on vacation, sunny, relaxing, and comfortable. Great pool & deck area, with a free juice and coffee bar...very relaxing and you can get great sun, or shade. The room & bathroom was somewhat spacious based on other hotels that I have stayed in. Beach is close, and it was very easy to catch a cab right outside the doors of the hotel. A cab from the hotel to old san juan or to the mall was about $2-$3 per person! A 24-hour grocery store right across the street that sells everything you need to have a good time & a small resturant about a 1 minute walk from the hotel with great food...we ate there everyday! Service was fine, and employees were nice. I honestly couldnt ask for more for the price that I paid...I really, really enjoyed my stay and I'm going back in a few weeks:)

Beautiful San Juan
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/05
The hotel is very conveniently located to everything. Public transportation is right outside the hotel door and very inexpensive! Restaurants and the beach are within easy walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their suggestions for dining, etc. were always helpful. There is construction going on currently next door, but there was never any noice that we noticed. We thoroughly enjoyed out time in San Juan, and the Hotel Pierre was a good place to stay.
