Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel and Casino, Santo Domingo

I went to the pool area and looks very deteriorated. The painting on the swimming pool is peeling off. I don't like the casino. The slot machines are confusing and very old. Very crowded table, and they dont open idle tables, even after asking. In the casino is full of women hustling you. Thanks good they don't allow visitor into guestroom, if not they will follow you up to your room.

I like the lobby. This was the worst marriott property I have ever stayed. The rooms are spacious but the bathrooms need updating and better lighting. In whole this place needs to be updated it is very old and out dated. It is over priced. I wont be going back. Good Luck!!!

As you step in through the huge glass entrance, you're greeted by the bellhop who stands ready to take people's luggage. I was extremely relieved because my family had spent the whole day traveling from Haiti. It was nice to relax on the lounge chairs they had set up. The customer service at check in was great. I had stayed there previously, and the service is consistent. Rooms are furnished with plush beds, dressers, office desk, and a lounge area. The beds are nice, and the tv comes with a variety of channels. Being from Fresno,CA and also being bilingual, I was very happy with the selection of channels they had available. Nice selection of Box Office movies, if you want to stay in. I am picky about bathrooms in hotels, but they have very nice and spacious bathrooms, of course, they're not state of the art, but it has all the essentials you're looking for: a toilet, sink, spacious counter, BIG mirror, sink and shower. They have a wonderful little bakery cafe downstairs, and I love the little treats they have displayed in the window. Price is average of what you would expect from a little cafe. The complimentary continental breakfast they serve is good. Nothing fancy, just what you expect from a breakfast buffet, but what you really SHOULD check out is if you stay on floors 8 or above, you get a pass at the lounge. This little room is open practically all night, and you get little pastries, cheese and meats, and drinks complimentary. You can eat there and enjoy tv or other people's company, or you can take it to your room. I love making midnight snack runs there, for all the hot chocolate I can get my hands on! The pool is nice and spacious. Many places to lounge. There is a mini bar there, and also has a fantastic ocean view. Love laying in the sun with a nice cold bottle of Presidente. Gym is also adequate. Haha, but what fun is it to spend hours at the gym when you're on vacation? Casino was pretty fun, they had all the slot machines that I like to play. The lounge in the casino is fun to go to. They have this little lounge place, and there's live music, and a bar. Its totally fun to go there and have a cocktail or beer and a cigarette. There's beautiful girls singing in tightly clad costumes and macho guys with dreds or cornrows singing and dancing on stage, then there's a dance floor for anyone who wants to boogie. Overall, my experience there has been consistent, and wonderful each and every time I go, so I would recommend this place to anyone who visits Santo Domingo.

This hotel has been around for years...and it only seems to get better. Has a Champions for all those American fast food fans....nice location. The grounds are well-kept and people are very helpful.

The hotel was really nice and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. I notice on the Marriott's website that they have a photo tour. They advertise Hotel and Casino, but you don't see a picture of the casino in the photo tour. I now know why. It was the worst casino I have ever been in. It is dark day and night. I started calling it the Graveyard for Slot Machines because all the machines are very old, most are broken, and they are dirty. The staff is rude and you will certainly wait at least 30 mins. for someone to come and fix the machine if it jams. They mainly have nickel machines which are played with pesos. If you like to gamble, do not, I repeat, do not, go in this casino. There are 3 other casinos within walking distance.

The pool is fantastic, but drinks at the pool are pricey ($33 for two and a fruit plate). Avoid the in house restaurant by going right out the front to a restaurant two blocks up and across the street--great view, great food, great price. Take a taxi from the lobby, not the street to the historical area. We were here to do nothing and it was fitting for our purpose. Great fitness center, but misleading with internet and sauna services ($10 for each).

Did not allow guessts!!!! Too many locals hang out at the bar and casino. No liquor after 1am what kind of a vacation is that!

It was a nice hotel in general, good food good service. Only thing that i did not like was the fact that the beach was pretty far away,other than that it was apreciated.

Do NOT stay in the Garden wing, ask for the tower. The smell of MOLD in the Garden wing gave me a headache 10 minutes after I arrived. I had to switch to the Tower. They charged me more and were giving me a hard time, but I couldn't stay there. I changed hotels after 1 night. 2 others I met during my stay complained about the mold condition also. Try the Hotel Santo Domingo or the El Embajador, much nicer.
