Snorkeling Heaven
After spending the past 4 vacations in Riviera Maya and Cozumel we are finally realizing there is no place to snorkel like Grand Cayman for us. Previously, we had spent 4 vacations at the Grand Caymans. After reading the posted reviews I am amazed that people complain about the cost. If you do any research on the island you will find it clearly stated that the cost of living (or visiting) is 25-30% higher because IT'S AN ISLAND. It costs more to ship or air transport food and supplies. Seven mile beach area is where you will find the most restrauants and activities for the average tourist, but the entire north side provides the ultimate in secluded snorkeling from Old Man Bay to Rum Point. There are also many great snorkeling areas from East End north to the Tortuga Club. Renting a condo or villa is the way to go on Grand Cayman, you are generally right on the water, have a kitchen, multiple bedrooms and can be near or FAR AWAY from the masses. For those looking to get away but wanting some nearby activity check out the Rum Point/ Cayman Kai area. Great beaches, excellent snorkeling, very low tourist volume and nearby activities. If you want to learn or can't get enough snorkeling come to the Caymans, it's a few steps away from wherever you end up staying on the island. NOTE: The little rundown beach bars tend to be the most fun and the propriators are full of stories & knowledge (BS??)and can send you to some secret sites that we are sworn to secrecy to never divulge, Thank you Quito!! Every trip we have used Capt. Marvin's for Sting Ray City & Fishing trips, ask for Jon-Jon.
