The worst hotel/timeshare I have every been to.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/11
I can not believe anyone would think this place was anything but a dump, the grounds are overgrown, most of the buildings were falling down, the windows would not close, the rooms smell, bugs crawling around, seedy neighborhood, The staff wanted $40 cash for what they called power charge. What a joke, interval international should be ashamed to even offer this location.

Wonderful Stay at Freeport Resort and Club
By TanyaH, 8/9/07
My husband and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, and we found just what we were looking for while staying at Freeport Resort and Club. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a smile and hug from Smiling Pat. We also received a warm welcome from Sybil and Arnold. The resort offers courtesy trips to the grocery store, every other day, and to the beach, everyday. Groceries, taxis, and gas are very expensive in the Bahamas. If possible, because there's no restaurant onsite, I would bring water and snacks just in case. As for excursions, we were looking to explore the rich culture of the Grand Bahama Island. Smiling Pat was willing to put together a package for us at a reasonable, economical price that allowed us to see dolphins, visit many historical sites, millionaires row, various beaches, and a variety of shops and eateries, not to mention endless "Fire in the Hole." You just have to tell her what you're interested in, and she'll put it together for you. We just sat back, and Pat did the rest. We also had the opportunity to participate in the Junkanoo Festival and dine at Simply Native. Simply Native's staff provided exemplary service and food. As Arnold would say, "we'll be back."

Very nice place to stay
By Scott M, 1/18/07
We were lucky enough to get this place for a week for our honeymoon (trading a week of timeshare). The staff is amazing and is always ready to help you. They were so friendly here and really made the effort to get to know everybody that was staying there. Trips to the grocery store and beach were complimentary. They have a nice pool area and lots of other amenities. It was a great place and we would definitely stay there again. It was clean and beautiful. There are 2 things wrong with it. 1. Poor location. I would love to stay here again if it were in a different spot. It is not on the beach and the golf courses around it were ruined in the hurricane. It is a 15-20 min. walk to downtown Freeport (which has nothing anyways...nobody updates information on websites or in books, but almost everything is gone due to hurricanes...they rave about the international bazaar, but once you get there, you realize it is almost entirely shut down. We had a horrible time whenever we went into Freeport. We should have spent more time in Port Lucaya. 2. They are affiliated with Smiling Pat. Smiling Pat runs a tour company...She is the biggest rip off and gives you nothing for your money. I could literally spend all day talking about our bad experiences on Smiling Pat tours and how we feel we wasted our money, but let me just warn you not to do anything with her and nothing more needs to be said. Stay away from Smiling Pat tours and any product or store that has Smiling Pat on it. She is robbing the island "stealing from the rich and keeping it for herself". She forces you to go to establishments that her family owns so the money can stay in her family and the tours are not how she originally describes them to be. Other than those things, we loved the resort. If we were to go back to Freeport (which we won't), we would definitely stay there again.
