Fancy dive boat, just don't plan on diving!!!!
By ,
STAY AWAY from Big Game Club if you want to go on a dive vacation in Bimini! We had a HORRIBLE experience with the dive shop! Otherwise this would have been a 5 star review. The hotel is clean, in a great location, and the staff outside of the dive shop is wonderful and very friendly! The person who runs the dive shop and is also the divemaster, started out being great to work with. Our first day there the water was choppy, but he took us to two great locations and we had a great dive experience. I should note that he didn't get in the water with us for the second dive and that there were two other divers with us that day. Then the story changed. We wanted to do more diving, but a cold front came through, no big deal. He told us to wait a day and then we could go diving, then we were told that unless other divers showed up he couldn't take us out because it wasn't profitable. When he realized he shouldn't have said that he back peddled and blamed the weather, even though he was planning on taking us out as long as the other divers showed. Then he promised us he would take us out the next day, sure enough the next morning we got a call from him saying the weather was too bad. On our final morning in Bimini while waiting for the water taxi I noticed just two divers on the boat getting ready, I asked the divemaster about this since the weather was the same as the previous two days and he said since they were getting certified (aka paying more money) they could go diving. Basically I spent a week being lied to by a lazy divemaster that didn't want to do his job. We choose to stay at Big Game Club because of the dive shop and the dive boat and ended up frustrated and hurt because of the poor staff running it.

bahamains treated badly
By ,
i was able to visit this place for their openin in july eveything and every one was wonderful i went back for buisness a week ago all the people seems like robats, not smileing the same way the manager and his assistant of the resturant was fired for no reason i investegated and found out that management of the hotel have changed and the workers are been talked to and treated like dogs by hank and his girlfrend sandra if this is the way our bahamians will be treated in our country this will be dealt with in higher athority because you have invested funds in a building doesnt mean you can do what you feel to our people it seems as if you used our people to get you to your opening and then let them go i noticed that some of the servers are gone the beutiful smile of the young lady that greeted us at the door id gone everyone seems lost in the resturant food now takes 45 minutes to reach to you i suggest that you get some of those people that you had at your opening to run your company because the way things are going i give you 6 months tops to be open, the manager that is there now told me that she is security manager sitting in until you guys find some one to replace the last manager, do you think putting a person in a position that seems like she dn 't want to have will make it better. get it together guys or you will be reading this same letter in the guardian and the tribune and now its so easy to go international treat the people with respect.

Use to be a Great Place ti stay!
By ,
I've been coming to Bimini with my Deep Sea Fishing club since 2004 and the Big Game was a very nice place to stay then. But in the past few years it has gone way down in service and comfort. Some of the rooms were lice infested. The tiles on the bathroom floors were pealed back so far you couldn't close the doors. The folks at the front desk were nice but the people in the restaurants were not very friendly at all (in fairness, a few of them were). The food wasn't that great and you had to make your own entertainment. Overall, the experience was not good and my club won't be staying there again. (we had twenty four people there last year and lots of verifiable complaints). Good bye forever BiG Game!

If you are planning a trip to Bimini...stay clear of the Big Game Club! You will be much happier at Blue Water or Ebbie's or even The Sea Creast. The Big Game only cares about the all mighty dollar. Customer satifaction is non-existent and the owner knows howe two ruun a cllubb licke i knows howe too speall! Stay away!!

Bimini Big Dissapointment Club
By ,
This is not a "resort" by any stretch of the imagination. It just keeps getting worse every year. Will pass Bimini next time and continue to Chub Cay. The water quality has suffered considerably since the dredging at the North end of the island commenced. If you must stay in Bimini, try some of the other places like Bimini Sands, Weech's Docks, or even Bimini Bay Resort.

I love it
By ,
What can I say. Bimini Rocks. At first the people seem rude, but if actually take time to say and show intrest in them they are quit friendly and helpfull. I go there on a regular basis and love it.You just have to remember its not nassau its a quaint island with top notch boating a scenery. The Bimini Bay is in the process of making more appealing to you tourist that just want ti lounge on the beach and dine in class.

I Love Bimini...
By ,
I flew from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Bimini in a friends helocoptor back in 1979. We were in a Blue Marlin Fising Tournament for Bacardi Rum with 42 tuna fishing boats. On a 7 day tournament. Our team won by catching 2 Blue Marlins that together weighed out at 695 pounds. We also caught a White Marlin. Back in the 70's Bimini only had a sheet of typing paper as their newspaper and I was written up in it all 7 days. It's those little bikinis, I'm telling ya, lol. Anyway, they had two places you could eat at. One bar I went to every day called Ozzies. I played a game where you had to hook a wooden, round, ring thing on a nail and if you won you got a free beer. I had St. Pauli Girls lined up all day long and snicker bars for chasers, lol. The electric went out on the island one night while I was there and our hotel and one restaurant were the only two places running on a generator. But even that was fun. Disco was in back then and the only disco and you could'nt go to that part of town. Of course I was bummed about that, but found other things to do. At the end of the 7 days the island gave a huge pic-nic on the beach with flowing white table clothes, tons of great foods and drinks, and little bahamian kids running in and out of the water and rolling in the white sand. They looked like skeletons running around. So cool. The water was so clear, someone said drop a quarter and you'll see it at the bottom and I did. What they said was true. There was only one car on the island back then, a black Seville. Loaded with young Bahamian men hanging out the windows. I could'nt understand a word they said, lol. It's all good though. Everyone was nice to me and vice versa. It's a small island, but if you get to know people and those who go there on fishing tournamnets it can be a fun getaway. There was a lot of history in pictures in the few places it had on the island and the Bahamian people were nice to share the stories behind each one. I would go back to see if Ozzies is still there. He had a picture of a guy who caught a 1,000 pound Marlin.

Disappointing end to a great trip
By ,
The only people who could possibly say that Bimimi was a great place to vacation, are people who have not seen any other out islands of the Bahamas. Bimini and more specifically, Bimini Big Game Resort and Marina, was our last stop on our 3 week tour of the Bahama out islands such as Great Guana, Green Turtle Cay, Spanish Cay, West End, Grand Bahama, Treasure Cay, Abacos, and for a bit of tourism, Atlantis, on our own 44 ft boat. To say that Bimini is the fishing capital of the Bahamas is to play off of years gone by and the Hemingway experience. Today, the fishing tournaments have moved to the Abacos, as evidenced by the only handful of tournament quality fishing boats now at the Marinas of Bimimi. Bimini is dying and this is why. Bimini offered no restaurants that were worth stepping foot into. We canvased one end of the Island to the other looking, so I say that with authority. There were 3 very crusty bars that seemed to be the only frequented establishments with at best, a burger menu. We rented golf carts which appeared to be the cast offs from other islands, with batteries that died after one circle of kings highway. The local people were out right hostile, making us a bit fearful for our safety and scared to death that our cart batteries would die out before we got back to our dock. There was an outright and obvious dislike of tourists. The Abacos offers better diving, fishing, scenery and ammenities, while still having the small pristine island experience..so why put up with rudness, bad food, and dirty facilities at Bimini?

Service
By ,
Great service from the front desk and the docks. The restaurant on the other hand, wasn't as good. Actually it was very poor, the waitresses seem to have problems with the general American tourist, and are not shy in doing so. Overall the experience was pleasant and I would go again for a shorter while. Ideally a two day trip.
