Las Palmas Beach Resort, Res Las Glorias

what would you say if you saw a waiter pouring a mixed drink from a bottle of alohol containing 2 dead wasps....that summarizes my views of this dumpy hotel...the food is horrible, there was unfinished drywall in our room, the furniture looks like it was rejected from the goodwill store ( no disrespect is intended for those people that actually need to shop there )....they charge for incoming phone calls, there is not enough towel service so the staff needs to pick up used towels, launder them the same day and then return to the guests the same day, they will not give out a TV remote controller without a deposit ( as if any one would swipe a controller - how insulting )..the place should be called El Dumpo by the Sea....it has a location that is great - if you can hold your nose, go to it, otherwise take your lysol with you...

Dislike: No fridges in the room as advertised. No clock radios in the room as advisertised. You have to pay for all drinks after 11:00 p.m. All inclusive? One bottle of water per room. You have to refill it yourself. You didn't always get your bottle of water and were told there was a store just down the street. All Ocean View rooms do not have balconies as advertised in travel books. Wine tasted like it was just bottled and not allowed to age. Likes: The waiters at the bar were friendly and helpful. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Our second time in Vallarta in the past two years. Both times travelling with my now 9 year old son. Las Palmas is so friendly and so flexible it can work for anyone, families, couples and singles. We met two great families one from Toronto and the other from New York. Everyone got along well and watched after our business. Lots to do being close to the boardwalk and only 20 mins from the Marina. Golf at Flamingo, fishing guide on the beach, parasail within seconds. Rooms are comfortable and staff were kind and kept us happy. All inclusive two weeks away from the rat race it's win win.

We enjoyed the genuine repoire amongst the staff and the staff with the guests. It was a warm, friendly "family" feeling. It is obvious that the hotel provides this atmosphere when talking to other guests who have returned to this same hotel year after year. One elderly couple has returned every year for twenty five years. The older style of this hotel also appealed to us . . . the palapas . . . the ramps . . . and the "extras" such as special coffees prepared at 4:30 every afternoon. We will be back next year!

We were a group of 8 from San Francisco and booked into The Las Palmas through Mexicana.com. We got back last week after having a super time and just can't wait to go back again. The entire staff was so gracious and hospitable to us. Every one of them in their own sweet way made us so welcome. My sister used a walker and everyone was so helpful to her. The hotel could do with some updating but we were hardly ever in our rooms. The bed linen and towels were clean and the beds were made up every morning. The maids provided all the essentials for the room. Breakfast was the best meal of the day and so was the delicious Mexican coffee served around 5:30 pm everyday. It was a great treat and definitely should not be missed. The meals were OK but there was so much to choose from if you did not like some items. The staff were very accommodating. We had a very nice waiter, Pedro by name who loved to wait on us. There were others too who were nice, Adrian, Vicente, etc. The Manager, Manuel was such a great guy and was always coming to us to see if he could help us in any way. Aurea, the PR gal was very sweet and was raised in California and often stopped to talk with us and ask us if we had any preferences, etc. Also at the Coincerge we met a beautiful lady, Carmen by name who was just so wonderful. She was very helpful to us too. All the folks at the bar were terrific. You could have any drink of your choice. Do try Las Palmas drink. Tips do make a big difference! There was a show every night and they were mostly very enjoyable. The Activities Director, Alex, does such a wonderful job. I saw him there every day of the week. He also conducts all the activities by the pool. We had to tell him to speak in English as our Spanish is almost nil. He was very cooperative and speaks fluent English. All in all we had such a great trip and I would go back in a flash. Thanks to all the wonderful staff of Las Palmas for giving us such a memorable time at Las Palmas by the Sea.

We had an excellent time March 2006. The people were so kind and good, view of ocean from room was great! Food was very good , but a little repetative. If you go, be prepaired to pay to rent a lock for your safety deposit box. Also there is a 20 peso per day deposit on your tv remote. Be careful when you arrive because there are timeshare people there and they seem like they work for the hotel , but really they want to lure you into their web by offering you side trips. we would definitly go back there , but it`s a little bit of a shock if you don`t know these things.

This is a nice hotel and if you are an ordinary working-class person like me you will enjoy yourself. Lots of Canadians. The Mexican people are so friendly and nice to be around. The staff are all very professional and polite. The dancers are fantastic (kudos to Zorem!!) Cecilia is a beauty and what a nice dancer she is. Drinks are good, such as Dirty Monkey, Oasis, etc,, You will have fun here and it is close to everything. Buy your liquor at the corner store (La Playa) it is so cheap.

Food was fine, staff great. met lots of nice people we'll continue to talk to. Use it as a home base for daytime meals, and eat out at night for variety. Good pools, beaches, easy access to bus line for travel downtown and airport. Time share people were officed in the lobby (common), but just say no and they'll leave you alone. Beds were hard, but wasn't a problem.

I think what we liked about the place is the friendly people, the wonderful service and the cleaniness. No matter what room you had they were all true ocean view. Thank you for making our vacation a very memorable.
