ice cubes dont melt from hotel to ocean, all inclusive food was always good, fresh-,mexican friendly staff ,-smile when you talk to them with your broken spanish , If you think you see alot of police-you are right. 4 levels of police.--army/navy,-federal,-municipal,-&tourist police. All have guns, look the same BUT have different Jobs. Mandatory 1 year for all citizens to do service in army/navy, so that cute soldier you meet ,may not be there next year darling.. Canadians should feel very comfortable in mexico(no Tasers) Mexican wages at hotel $10.00 A Day for your cleaning lady, so make your own bed at least twice & tip her anyways. Bring some calgary clothes ,country music cds& books to leave there and instead buy new to take home. Bring your own face clothes, ear plugs .they have hairdryers.-Buy a gallon water for your room,so you always have it,wear water shoes& long sleeve in ocean, Have 3 bathing suits,(at least bottoms) for quick-change it is Humid and your suit will not dry overnite . Zihuatanejo town. Take the bus early in the morning or in the evening-all the hotel staff lives there,the driver will drop you off at "Centro" & pick you up ..Go in a group so your not shy about it - -But it is humid humid.--.always be at a pool or in the shade - in a cafe from 12 - 3 pm it is siesta, stores doors are open but they are resting,eating in the back- you will be the only gringo outside. It is really Humid Come back at night. Put water in your sunscreen to thin it out for easy coverage or you will end up with a weird looking tattoo where you missed a spot. Go on the Ixtapa Island tour and snorkel with the Hearing -impaired Guide "Pancho" with his boogie board. He keeps you safe & hes worth a tip.They have 1/2 hour massages for $25. on the island. And dont order Beef when you are blessed here in Alberta Try the Mexican ,& seafood Ixtapa was built by the government,for tourists to employ mexicans. So leave it and go on a tour to see more of mexico. ask other people about what they saw &-you will find yourself thankful you made your vacation more than the poolside experience. I travelled here alone, and the direct flight & transfer ,made it simple. The hotel staff are trustworthy and always made me feel at home .Enjoy the different culture,and accept the different standards. The Mexican people can be a hidden treasure for you if you take the time to talk in between your broken spanish and their broken english. anyways the hotel has very nice staff, great pools and open easy areas for relaxing-and i d say it is a simple and uncomplicated place

The place was beautiful. The rooms were nice for a hotel that is 25+ years old. Do Not get the All Inclusive here, you will not be able to order off the menu, and the Buffet that you get is not very good (and that is being nice). The food is more to the taste of the Mexican people. That being said you can get much better food elsewhere. When we were there the make up of people was 95% Mexican and 5% American. I am not sure if that is like that all of the time. The location is great, but if you go, try to spend as much time in Zihautanejo as possiable. The food is better, the people are nicer and the shopping is better. But the Hotels are not.

Just got back from Ixtapa last week(12/8/08). The weather there is perfect; hot and humid. Stayed at the Krystal while I was there for 2 weeks. The hotel is for sure showing its age; however, the pool area and the grounds are absolutly gorgeous. The beds are a little hard and I heard of a few people having problems with the a/c in the rooms. My A/C worked just fine the whole time that I was there. The staff down at the pool are great!! The hotel is in a good location from shops and restraunts. Oh yeah, the elevators are a little quirky from time to time; however, they get them fixed really fast when they break down. The Krystal is not the nicest hotel in Ixtapa; but, the pool area and grounds of the hotel are right up there with the nicest ones. When in Mexico, you dont spend very much time in your room, well i dont anyways. I was paying $ 88 dollars a night, for the price you cant beat it. I will be going back and staying at the Krystal again next year. Met a lot of really nice people who go there the same time every year. One couple that i met usually stay at the Krystal; however, this year they stayed at the Dorado. They said that they liked the Krystal a lot better than the Dorado.

Showers are awfull, A/C was on and off constantly especially at night. We woke up all the time because it was very hot in the room. Also, they are so ridiculous they charge $30 (pesos) every day for the coffee in the room, any hotel would give you complementary coffe. After the 2nd day they moved us to another room (they said there was problems with the A/C) and they made us pack all over again and of course unpack when we got to our new room that was worst than the other one. I will be sure to tell everyone how bad the hotel is and how unfriendly people from the front desk are.

Good value. Do not do thje all-inclusive. It is overpriced. Service is good and considerate. The most fun is exploring the area.All in all a great value. March 3 to 10,2008.

We were there October 13th – 20th 2007. The weather is hot and humid! But it was nice to just walk out of the hotel and up to the pool. We did like the service at the pool bar. The service there was good but the drinks were over priced. All rooms have balconies facing the water. However, if you end up on the end of the hotel we did for the first night down on the 3rd floor we could not see anything but the next building over and our windows had paint and mud from the building next door that was being built. And it was noisy. The next night we were moved to the 7th floor closer to the beach and it was better. Rooms could use an updating. There are a few things that your have to deal with like the smell from the A/C or the 1/2 shower door water ended up all over the floor. The hotel is close to a lot of cool attractions, but close to a lot of time shares who try to sell stuff to you. Do not need an all exclusive in Ixtapa. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Don't forget to pack some SPF 50 sunscreen for your nose and shoulders, the lotion are cheaper in the states than it is in Ixtapa. And you might want to think about bringing some Deep Woods off, we all got bug bits when we were outside. The hotel is decent for what you pay. The beach was Great. The beach chairs needed new cloth on them so take a towel to sit on. One day we took a cooler full of beer down to the beach because we saw others with them, and the next day we tried and we were stopped and told that it was hotel policy that you can not take your own down but you can buy a bucket of beers from the hotel and take it down. But the beer at the hotel was 3.50 a bottle. We loved Ixtapa and will go back but we will try a different hotel.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting from the U.S. When I ordered a sandwich with fries like it said in the menu, the waiter brought it to my room with almond cookies instead of fries. They never asked me if it was okay to bring me a sandwich with cookies instead of fries. The Margaritas they serve taste awful too. When you enter your room the bathroom doors have mold and the tile floors are really old. They charge you everyday for each room service you have without notifying you before. The pool seems big but it is small compared to many other hotels. This hotel is full of mexican families in August. The NH Krystal hotel never controls who comes in and out of the hotel so many families invite their relatives to stay in the same room. Sometimes you can see that over 6 people stay in the same room. The pictures that are shown online make the hotel seem nice but when you get there the hotel is different. The motels in the US are better than this hotel in Mexico. This is the worst vacation I have ever had. The Park Royal Hotel In Ixtapa is better than the NH Krystal hotel.

Awesome view of the ocean. Rooms not very stylish. Bed sheets ugly. Pool excellent and warm. Not much selection for food. It is close to a lot of cool attractions, but close to a lot of time shares who try to sell stuff to you. I'd go back to ixtapa, but at a different time of year. mostly Mexican people there in the summer and too hot. I would not go back to the Krystal

It was a pleasant stay we really liked the accomadations. We did like the pool side services and the service at the pool bar. The gentalman who was there was very rude. We did like the guy that was at the pool that was entertaining the kids. The food was great!
