Scary to be treated this way
First the good: It is a pretty hotel with a grand lobby, and the concierge is helpful and recommended very good places to walk and eat in the nicest neighborhood in Mexico City.
Now the rest:
I had a flood in my room from the room upstairs, which was a bit disturbing. I had a conference room booked for a presentation to a local business. I was unable toget confirmation of the room booking untill I made 5 calls to the hotel. Then on the day of the presentation the meeting manager of the hotel billed me for 100% of the cost, after assuring me it was split 50/50 with the other presenter I was sharing the booking with... It was not, but he made sure I filled in an evaluation form BEFORE he double billed me. Plus, even after splitting, it was substantially more expensive than I was told it would be.
Now for the really unpleasant part: My camera and a high capacity memory stick were stolen from my room. The manager "Gerente de Division Cuartos" was unapologetic, unsympathetic, and told me only about how long their maids and staff have been there, and how they cannot take anything out of the hotel, they must declare all personal electronics, etc. They suggested that I might have lost it elsewhere, but that they would have an insurance investigation. To date, NOTHING, even though the theft occurred on October 5th, and I have followed up twice with the Gerente de Division Cuartos. My advice? If you get robbed at the Presidente, call the police, do not trust management will "take care of you". No reimbursement, no credit, etc.
