Club Internacional de Cancun
The oldest hotel in Cancun, but it is so well-maintained you would never guess it. We loved the tropical design with flowers and bushes everywhere. It is so unlike the majority of the newer hotels- which are all high rise (12 story max due to building code) concrete edifaces with a cold feeling. The Club Internacional is from 3 to 5 stories high with 2 wonderful pools and an excellant restaurant. My only negative is the small beach with seeweed that washes up in the P.M., because it is located on the bay (protected) side. There are hardly any waves, unlike the hotels on the true ocean side. The Club Int. is also called VCI and is part of the Royal family of 5 hotels. Therefore, a short bus or cab ride will take you to say The Royal Sands, a concrete high rise, but with a great beach, with big waves (watch the undertow). Your room key is used as a kind of credit card at all 5 hotels. The only real money you need is for transportation, tips, and day trip expenses. The exchange rate is about 11 pesos = 1 dollar. It pays to convert US $$ to pesos before you go, to save a few dollars.
Enjoy but try to go in Dec. Jan., or Feb. to avoid the oppressive heat and humidity (we went in the middle of June, week 25).
