Fenix Hotel, Fracc Guadalajara

Great central location with parking however you have to leave keys with parking attendants who have a thief among them that took our I pod. Hotel is somewhat run down and elevator bells go off all night keeping you up if your room is close to them. Great location so if you have no vehicle or items of value with you this place is highly recommended. If not stay away.

Absolute worst hotel stay I've ever experienced. The room we were given had a strange smell to it. Obvious that the sheets were never washed and old. No hot water and complaints from us didn't matter. Maybe that's why we were the only ones at the hotel.

I couldn't believe how old my room was when I got in. the TV is from the 80's. The beds have springs, really uncomfortable. There is no internet in the room. You can go to the lobby, which is really dark and ugly, to get some wireless signal, however, you have to pay and it doesn't even work. I will never come back, seriously. I has a great location.

We have stayed at the Fenix many times during trips to Guadalajara, and, like the city itself, we have never left unhappy. The staff is always quick to respond to special needs or requests. The restaurant is first class, with many other restaurants only a short walk away. The location is absolutely fantastic, with a huge market within walking distance, taxis waiting at the front door, bus stops only blocks away, and the list goes on. There might possibly be a nicer hotel in Guadalajara, but we will never know, unless we are too late in requesting a reservation during some future trip.

My husband and I reserved a room with a king size bed; what we got was a double size bed. When we complained, they told us they'll give us another room, but to come back later in the day. We checked back later and we were told they did not have a room for us, at this point we told them we were going to go somewhere else, and lo and behold, they came up with a room with a King size bed; however, the window in the room had a big gap where rain would come in. there were no bath mats and no face towels, we had to ask every day for these items. I must say however, that the restaurant and bar staff was very, very nice, helpful and friendly, and the food was good too.

First we paid for our reservation on line and because the Fenix had not received the money yet from the reservation service, they wanted to charge us again and said it was our problem. Finally, they relented and gave us our rooms which had been previously paid for online. I found a cockroach in the bathroom. There were no hand towels,washclothes in the bathroom or bathmat. The beds were very hard and the air conditioner never cooled the room. Additionally, the telephone did not work. The toliet plugged up with just some paper in it and came very close to overflowing. They advertise hair dryers in the rooms but there was not one. Our friends were given a room which turned out to be occupied. Fortunately, they had another room vacant. Based on our experience, I can't recommend this hotel. Look for another.
