Worst experience ever- Pick another Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/09
After visiting Niagara Falls for the past 7 years, I stopped by the Howard Johnsons "By The Falls" for a 3 night stay.
First, I went to check in at 1pm, the rude Customer Service Rep advised me check in was at 4pm. Normally they check to see if a room is ready or start the check-in process, not this time- Just a "Check in is at 4"... I had requested a heart-shaped Jacuzzi room, booked online weeks in advance, I wanted to make sure I was getting that room- So before I left I asked, and they said to come back at 4 and they would check me in to the proper room.
I came back at 4 sharp and my room type was now sold out- They had to move me to another room- not what I had requested. The room was dirty (Shower area, Jetted tub had soap film all over, there was hair in the sink and a faint odor in the room). The next day we set off for the falls- left the room at 9am, came back at 4:30 PM to get ready for dinner. The room was still not made up- just the way we left it- No towels- bed unmade. I saw housekeeping in the hall and she asked if I would mind leaving the room so she could clean it (at 5pm). The price was in par with the other hotels in the area- do yourself a favor and pick another one!
And for the finale! 4 days after I returned home I received a bill for towels that I supposedly damaged- I called the hotel to let them know that I did not stain any towels and to reverse the charges- They said no, housekeeping found the 2 towels in your room damaged and the charges will stay (They were posted to my Credit Card) This is not an attack on the hotel- Just wanted to share the story. Two other notes, the Hotel Lobby always smells like grease because a Pizza Hut is attached (right next to the lobby) and the pool is way to cold to swim in. Enjoy your trip to Niagara! I suggest the KEG Steakhouse, and the Bird Kingdom!
