3 reviews for English Inn & Resort, Esquimalt
We're telling everyone!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
We booked our room off of the internet, based on the pictures and descriptions of the English Inn and Resort. We thought it would be a quaint place to stay, and we were not disappointed! Our room was large, overlooking a beautiful garden with a fountain. Nice large windows let in the sunlight. We greatly enjoyed the old world feel of our room and the inn. The customer service is not to be beat!! We are telling family and friends to pay English Inn and Resort a visit the next time they go to Victoria, and we are planning on a return visit as well.

The Real Scoop
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/05
After reading all the varying reviews my wife and I were apprehensive about what we would find upon arrival. Fortunately, we were generally very pleased. First, they accomodated our early arrival. There was a minor mix up on the type of room which was quickly corrected. Staff was polite and helpful throughout our entire stay. We encountered no construction while we were there and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. The atmosphere, since it is in a residential area, was quiet. There was a wedding there during our stay but other than disrupting parking a bit it did not disturb our stay. The suite was good sized, adequately furnished, but the bathroom was on the small side. The suite was clean with the usual amenities. The restaurant and bar staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. The restaurant is very good, very creative, and reasonably priced for the quality level. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet place (barring a special event) and do not need to be right downtown (which is a little too far for me to walk) this is a charming and reasonably priced alternative.

Nice rooms, fabulous restaurant!
By Andrea Hevesi, 06/13/05
My husband and I stayed here in the Carraige House for our anniversary. We loved the hotel and would definitely recommend it. The rooms were a good size, very clean, and comfortable. Gorgeous linens, comfortable bed, and the robes in the room are a nice touch! The English gardens are beautiful and immaculately kept. We were a little dissapointed that the internet service was only available in the main lobby and not in the outer buildings and lodging rooms. Our favorite part was dining at the Rosemeade Dining Room in the main house. Initially, we thought it was 'frou-frou' and overly stylized for the old world building. We were immediately warmed up with the attentive and personalized service from the waitstaff and management. We had an absolutely incredible gourmet meal with well-chosen wine accompaniments and it was extremely affordable. We have paid three times as much for half the service elsewhere! There is a fantastic fireplace and couches to have after dinner coffee. I would definitely go back, at the very least to dine in the restaurant!
