iew!
They didn't clean the room properly before I checked in. The previous night's guest's trash was scattered across the desk, and there were hairs in the sheets, which, to me, indicates that the sheets were not even changed. It made me cringe. In-room internet didn't work. If the room were properly cleaned, it would have been a decent (not great) stay. Notable are the panoramic views in each room. Location is fantastic. This is a two star hotel at best; never mind what any website or guide book says. All things considered, I would recommend people look elsewhere.

Great stay
By ,
Other reviewers have commented on the location, friendliness, service and gym/pool facilities and we agree with all the positives expressed. Loved being close to the hub of Vancouver but also enjoyed the peaceful aspects of this hotel. No room service was a downside but we managed without and enjoyed eating in the downstairs restaurant and also venturing along Robson Steet to eat.

poor poor restaraunt staff
By ,
the restaraunt staff are treated terribly. i was there for a breakfast along with the rest of the tour bus and we all needed to get out at the same time. the manager kept the restaraunt unbelievably understaffed and made the staff that was there over work. there wasn't enough kitchen staff to get the food out on time. to my understanding there was only one cook on. my poor waitress had to serve, seat, clean the tables, pretty much everything and she had way too many tables and there was no one else there to help. if they needed help they were to call on the hotel staff to help seat or bring out food. it was very unprofessional of the hotel manager and owner, i will never go there again.

Will go again!
By ,
The room I stayed in was on the 30th floor. It had a fantastic view of Robson street and the harbor. It is absolutely breathtaking and so worth the money. However, my room was a little smaller than I expected. Being it was only my boyfriend and I, that was no problem because the time we spent in the room was spent outside in the balcony enjoying the scenery or sleeping. My friends stayed in lower level rooms but their rooms were actually twice as big as our room. This might be due to the fact that they had two beds and we had one. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and they offer free internet. The location is great for girls who love to shop since its located right on Robson street. There are also a lot of eateries around for you to try. Overall, my experience at Blue Horizon was fantastic. I will definitely stay there again.

We liked the friendly staff both in the hotel and the restaurant. The food is good and the accomodations excellent. This is a well run establishment and we sure would go back because you cannot get any better for price, location or accomodation !!! (We were a party of 10)

Won't stay there again
By ,
We were lured by the location, private balcony, view, and jacuzzi/pool BUT our room was very noisy. Apparently, some type of storage room was directly opposite and we could hear the door slamming shut dozens of time each day and during the night. It was hard to get a good nights sleep. We reqested to change rooms, only to be relocated across from the ice machine which was equally disruptive at all hours of the day and night. On three separate occasions, housekeeping or someone from the front desk ENTERED OUR ROOM WITHOUT KNOCKING! This was completely unacceptable! The location was great - the view was fantastic but we won't stay there again. I have written a letter to the hotel directly. Perhaps they will improve on these issues.

Perfect Location, Service and Value!
By ,
As far as location goes, this hotel is one of the best in Vancouver's Downtown. You can easily and quickly access the beach/harbor on either side, the famous and majestic Stanley Park is about a 15 minute walk away, and all the shopping and dining is literally at your fingertips. You can easily and quickly get to Gastown, museums, Granville Island, the Vancouver Aquarium, arguably one of the largest American Chinatowns, Harbor Centre Lookout, and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Hotel service is very commendable. The staff is courteous, helpful and always sporting a sincere smile. The rooms are not huge, but are not small either, and are extremely clean and comfortable. Every time I would leave my room for the first time that day (no matter the time), I would come back to a spotless room, freshly cleaned and re-stocked with necessities. The only drawback I can think of is the fact the hotel does not have room service food-wise, which is not so bad as their restaurant is great and has a lengthy menu catering to even the most picky eaters (and the food is delicious). Also, if you are not driving, take the #5 bus which stops directly in front of the hotel and you can easily get just about anywhere downtown (and right to English Bay Beach on Beach Avenue) within minutes for a very low fare if you're feeling tired or a bit lazy. This is a "Green Hotel", so the choice of towel and bed sheet changing is yours to make. You can get them changed every day or whenever you request if you are more environment-conscious. There is a pool (albeit quite small) and a hot tub on the second floor as well, accessible to all guests. Both are perfect for a quick swim or soak on a rainy day. Lastly, the views (rooms on floors 15 and up) are absolutely amazing. On one side, you will see the mountains and much of the downtown, on the opposite side, you will look out at the ocean and mountains. All rooms are corner rooms so you will get extra light which is quite lovely...especially on a cloudy Vancouver day (and you're doubling up on your views). All in all, this hotel leaves nothing further for you to desire than what is offered. Sightseeing, business, family vacation, shopping, clubbing--anything you can imagine in front of you! I loved my stay here and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking! Good luck!

Awesome Location
By ,
The location of this hotel is the best! My daughter and I were able to walk everywhere in Vancouver (left our car at the hotel). It is right down the street from Stanley Park which is a must. Plus, it is in the heart of the Robson Street shopping. It is a hopping area even after the stores close. The rooms are all on corners and if you stay on an upper floor the view is fantastic. The rooms are very spacious and the bed was so comfortable! There is a hot tub which was a bonus since we didn't know before we arrived. To top it off, the restaurant attached is Very Good!!!!

Economically Central
By ,
The Blue Horizon is walking distance to many of Vancouver's attractions. The exterior reminded me of an older apartment building that had been re-tiled with aquatic blues. The rooms are basic but comfortable, each with a balcony overlooking the city and studio style mini-kitchen. This hotel is great for the price concious traveler who wants to be near the sights. Located on Robson Street, you can't be more centrally located in downtown Vancouver.
