Lake Louise Inn, Alberta

There are newer and older buildings. We stayed in one of the older buildings and I don't think much has changed since the 1970's when we were students. What is annoying is that they charge $10/day for slow wi-fi (.51Mbps download, .26 Mbps upload). The restaurant sells soggy veal cutlets on a bed of noodles covered with boiled tomato slices for $19 and call this mess "Wiener Schnitzel". To get your skis in or out of the ski locker you first have to get someone from the front desk to walk with you to the locker to unlock the door where you then get to cram your skis into a tiny holder which adds scratches to your skis. Other than that, the skiing was fantastic.

Having travelled for two weeks in British Columbia, Washington and Alberta I can honestly say the Lake Louise Inn was the worst one we stayed in. The rooms are tiny and overpriced. It charges Sandman prices but gives Motel 6 quality. It was the only place we stayed in which charged for wi-fi. The car parking is difficult. In the are of lake Louise it proabably isn't expensive but then most of the establishments in that gorgeous part of Canada appear to act like Eli Wallach in the Magnificent 7. had i been charged 80 dollars a night less I might not feel so aggrieved. The Mountaineer appeared better value and Banff is only 40 minutes away with much better food outlets and choice of hotel. In my view lake Louise is better visited on a day basis.

I booked a Double Queen-Superior for one night. I was extremely disappointed. The room was more like a 1 star motel. It smelt of cigarette smoke, it was dark and depressing and resembled a room from the 1970's in terms of decor and appliances. There were also several safety issues in terms of fixtures not being properly attached to the wall. There were pictures of what this "superior room" should look like both on the website and in the lobby, but I can strongly emphasise that the pictures were a complete misrepresentation of the truth.This room was right at the very back of the Motel, just beside the travel coach paking area. I am still waiting on an e-mail from the Motels manager.** Do not stay in this Motel **

We stayed in the older part of the Inn and it was older! The furnishings were outdated. It just felt old and shabby. I think the newer parts are better, but didn't house enough people for our group. The kitchen was well adequate and useful, but there was no table to use for a meal. There were lots of stairs that we didn't know about when we booked. We got much more for our money at outer places in the general area during out stay. All in all, it was not the best experience of our trip. We wouldn't probably stay there again.

This lodge is old and outdated. We had to walk up 3 flights of unlit stairs to a cramped room. The cable TV channels were very basic. There was no air conditioning!!! We were charged $180 for this experience. The power to the entire area went out about 7:00 pm and never came on again. The website for this lodge does not mention that there is no A/C. Try staying in a room in June, July, and August with no A/C!!!!

The room we rented for a family ski trip was absolutely disgusting. The bathrooms had urine stains around toilet & dried tooth paste on the walls. The kitchenette cupboards were filthy, stove & oven were never cleaned. Fridge door handles & light switches were built up with dirt & grim. Walls looked like beer or some other foreign matter were sprayed all over them. the carpets looked like they were never vacuumed between guests. The couch in the living room smelled like sweat & urine. The stairway bannister leading to the loft was smeared with who knows what. Overall I would rather stay in a pig barn then this dive.

The hotel staff members are friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and the hotel caters to guests who love to downhill ski. The Inn is located in very close proximity to the ski hill and the town centre. The wood burning fireplaces in Building #5 are a treat during the winter months. We were also very pleased to learn that the lower level lounge is now designated as non smoking. We did not like to see employees or guests gather by the front entrance which appears to be the new "Lake Louise Inn Outdoor Smoking Lounge". We strongly suggest that there should be high speed internet service at minimal or no charge in all rooms and that there should be DVD rentals or better TV channel selection for movies and documentaries. We have visited Lake Louise and stayed at the Lake Louise Inn at least twice per year during each ski season for the past several years. Our family members hope to return to Lake Louise again in 2007 for another great ski and snowboard season.

its so peaceful and quiet and fantastic views. if i could ever stay there again i would. the food is superb and the rooms have just the right space of window to get the perfect view. the price is great and cheap and its worth every moment!

It's a very nice hotel, with a large varity of rooms, we went for the cheapest one and it was quite alright, in the basement of our builduing there was an entertainment room, with games, which was nice. The Italian restaurant is great we ate there the 2 nights at dinner, we didn't have a chance to try the pool or the two hot tubs, but it looked great. Very friendly staff!

but size does matter you begin to feel stuffed with all the other guests.smells kind of funky, and the bed sheets look like they haven't ben changed since the reagen administration.
