Accommodating and Family Friendly Hotel
By Diane, 2/26/12
We recently stayed at the Round Barn Lodge during a school holiday. We were pleased to find through a phone call that we could check in early (1:00 pm), giving the kids more time to play in the nice and warm pool! The staff was very friendly and helpful with any needs or questions that arose. Our room was quite comfortable and quiet. It was a great place to get away for a great price!

Avoid the Restaurant
By Susan, 2/26/12
This was my first visit to this restaurant since the new management took over. OMG it was horrible. We were went for breakfast and we took our 3yr old grand-daughter with us. They didn't offer a children's menu and I don't know of any 3yr old that can eat an adult portion. The waittress only offered the breakfast buffet. Husband and I took the buffet. The food was terrible. The scrambled eggs were cold; there were only 2 biscuts and the gravy had a scum on top; only 2 waffles; half cooked bacon swimming in grease; pork links also swimming in grease; no pancakes and no toast; hashbrown potatoes were half cooked also. Then the pastry table was another eye-opening experience - the doughnuts were ROCK hard - they must have been sitting there for over a week. The buffet price of $6.99 was very high for the selection offered. The kicker was that they charged over $6.00 for 1 egg; toast & bacon for a 3yr old . They advertise themselves as a family restaurant, but our total bill was very close to $25.00 . Not a family friendly place at all. The waittress was so slow; she showed a definite lack of interest in serving customers and there was only one other table with one patron. Once we had our food the waittress did not even bother to come to our table again. If I hadn't held up my coffee cup as she was passing with the pot, I probably wouldn't have even received a refill. This is not a place I would ever recommend to friends or family. I would tell them to avoid this restaurant at all times. Horrible food with high prices and horrible service. This is an area that gets alot of passing tourists and I wish I could have provided a glowing review, but instead I am suggesting that they find another place to eat, either in Spring Green, or make the drive to Richland Center where there is a very nice, economical place right on Hwy 14 that does offer good food with reasonable prices and very pleasant wait staff.

Will never go there again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/11
The Food was so bad, I'm surprised they have any business and are still able to open their doors. We got the buffet, figured we could get a little taste of a couple of things. Everything was cold, or had sat out for hours. You could tell what the food was, the pasta was hard and dried out on top and then below it was sitting in water and was mush. The service was slow and there was only one other table being used. I was so disappointed. I've been there before and they use to be good. The desserts that were there were OK but we figured out they are not made from their and they are store bought which is probably why they were edible. This new management has ruined the historical value of the round barn. I'm not sure I've ever had food so bad.

It's Getting There!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/11
Family friendly. Restaurant under new management. The food is now the best it has been there in years. Friday night haddock was wonderful. Ribs are the best you'll find in the area. Signage lacking between entryway to lodge and restaurant - confusing. Restaurant is sort of seat yourself but it doesn't say so. The "older" wait staff is very good. Typically, no hostess on regular basis to seat folks. But then it's a barn. The building is interesting. Plan to spend more time for a meal than at Denny's. Soups are great. If they are not hot enough for you be sure to say so. They are more than happy to do what the customer wants. It would be fun if they could have country items on the walls for sale. Atmosphere is homey for mid-scale restaurant. Restrooms are small, A- clean, but very serviceable. Just tell them what you want and they will try to get it for you. I would definitely recommend The Round Barn today. :)

Lodge and restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/11
Room was great, stayed there in the off season, got a newly remodeled room and could not have been happier. Restaurant was a different story, short menu, lacking bar with unknowledgeable bartender. Had fish on a Friday night, deep fried was fair, broiled cod was bad, baked potato was leftover from the night before and salad bar was badly lacking with ingredients and quality lettuce.

We wont go back
By Wisguys, 9/29/09
The advertising for the hotel is wrong. 1st the restaurant is closed except for Friday and Saturday from 7-2pm. 2nd Problem the housekeeping staff need some work. When we checked in our room was not clean to any standard. The place is very dusty and stuffy. When we complained to the manager she was not friendly and acted like she didn't care. some of the staff just acted like we were in the way.

fine stay
By sandra, 10/31/08
this is a basic hotel. nothing fancy. we stayed in 2 rooms with 2 queens in each. both had micro and fridge. the kids used the indoor pool and said it was nice and warm. there was a small exercise room(broken treadmill, elliptical, bike). breakfast was 6-10 and included juice, fruit, packaged pastries, rolls, etc, cereal. Nothing spectacular but it was nice not to have to worry about it. Paid $54 for the room(off season, weekday, AAA), so it was a good deal. My only complaint was that the walls seemed thin. I could hear the tv in the adjoining room(luckily, that was one of our rooms so I could turn it off!) The restaurant was closed but we found a culvers down the street. The rooms we were in had wireless internet. We just stayed overnight and got up in the am and went to the house on the rock. I would stay here again for the right price

A Pleasant Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/08
I took my daughter on a quick one night getaway to visit Cave of the Mounds and House on the Rock. We needed a place to stay and The Round Barn looked ok on the internet - at least the rates were great. When we got there we were pleasntly surprised. Great location, nice rooms, nice pool and game room. Very clean. TV, fridge, even a small oven, coffee maker in the room. Couldn't ask for more. Staff was very pleasant, check in and check out went quickly. Only stumble was that the Round Barn Restraunt was closed (it was March and they were closed for the season). No problem, we went across the street to Athur's which is owned by the same company. All in all we'd do it again, we highly recommend this motel.

Dishonest & dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/07
I booked a room 3-4 months in advance. When we arrived we were told we were in a room across the street! That was not the room we booked. Not even the same price. The women was very rude and from things she said it sounds like a common business practice to switch rooms on people. I even had a confirmation number, which meant nothing. We drove across the street to a small shack, walked into the room they gave us and almost threw up! The room smelled so bad (like someone had died and decayed in it). We immediately went back and told them we could not stay there and needed another room (at least a clean one) or our money back. They said we would have to have our money back (obviously they had no clean rooms) but we have yet to get our money back. They ran the charge through and never credited it! When I called to dispute the charges, no manager was on duty (surprise!)and the person answering the phone was very rude. The Round Barn Inn gives Spring Green a bad name! I know I will never go back!!!
