Madison Wisconsin Hotel Howard Johnson Plaza, Madison

Not very clean. The work out facility needed numerous repairs. I would look elsewhere in the future. The staff was decent and the location is good for visiting the capital or the stadium.

Our stay at the Howard Johnson had more bad than good. Our stay started out with not having our microwave and refrigerater as requested. We called the front desk and got no answer, so we have to go down to the desk. He changed our room to one across the hall. Then we were having trouble getting our room keys to work in this room. The next day we couldn't even get into our room. My husband had to chase back and forth to the second floor needless to say there is only one elevator that doesn't even accomodate he entire motel. Alot of stair climbing. They finally determined that the board on the door was not working. So we had to change rooms again. Sending us back to our original room we started at. Nobody offered to help with moving all of our stuff including there microwave and fridge. Once we got this done we looked around the room and it was not very appealing. There was mold under the wallpaper in the bathroom where it was peeling up. There was also mold or rust under the rim of the toilet. It looked to me like the room hadn't been used in a while. As far as the breakfast goes that wasn't the best either. The man was very cheerful to say but it got quite annoying after the first few songs he sang for us. I couldn't eat my breakfast fast enough. On the weekend the buffet was very crowded. There wasn't enough seating for all the guests. I had asked to sit in a little room off to the side and the gal said it was set up for something else. So we didn't eat on saturday or sunday. Quite a disappointment. To end it all we had trouble with our billing. I had set up a reservation thru the 1-800 number and my price that was emailed to me was 70 dollars less then what they charged me. This hotel didn't offer a free night for our room change troubles and though they got a hold of som one in customer service on the phone they should have at least fixed my bill before I left. The only good thing about the hotel was the pool. It was big and thats about it. I thought the hot tub was too hot and over chlorinate. I will never stay at a Howard Johnson ever again. I could have stayed in any hotel in madison and I had to pick this one because I thought I was getting such a great rate. Well as they say you get what you pay for. Your better off staying somewhere where its a little more and probably get better service and a cleaner hotel. This place needs some major work. I usually don't complain or go on and review anything like this but hopefully I'm helping someone who is thinking about staying here.

I had a great stay at the hotel. It was a good value. The staff were exceptionally nice, the rooms were clean, and they had a nice exercise room. I think the most memorable thing about the stay was Mike who worked the breakfast area. He was the most positive person I think I ever met. I wasn't quite sure how someone could be that happy so early in the morning, but he certainly made an impression on me. I could hardly wait to go for breakfast the second morning. When I went for breakfast I didn't see Mike and I asked where he was and I was informed he was working at night. I never see him again, but I would certainly make a point to go back there because of him and his posistive attitude. Not only was he the most positive person I ever met, but he could sing Louis Armstrong songs like no other. Mike- thanks for being such a postive person, we need more like you!!!

we stayed last weekend June 27th thru 29th, we are 2 people in our 50's and 60's, didn't bother anyone, on saturday evening we returned from going out for diner and at approximately 8:15pm. the phone rang, i answered and it was the front desk informing me that there had been complaints about our room, me and my husband, i said this room, she says yes, your smoking marijuana in that room, i was totally taken back as i have never smoked one in my life so why would i do it there, i said in this room she said yes, i was dumbfounded and seriously hoped the police where coming to find the marijuana, never in my life are in my wildest dreams has anything like this happened, not i'm sorry or we made a mistake no just asume you did it, that same nite around 2am. a couple on the same floor we fighting slaming doors and throwing things, and screaming, this went on for over and hour and a half we had to leave the next moring and need less to say with no sleep, and never once did ya hear anyone try to stop this they also had children staying on that floor i was hoping they would just hurry and beat each other up so someone could get some sleep, so if ya want to go some where and get accused of breaking the law and don't need any sleep try checking into the howard johnson in madison, wisconsin, i've tried to find a corporate address because i don't think anyone will give a dern but everyone needs to be advised.

We were very pleased with the motel and were surprised by the quality and variety of food at the breakfast. We plan to return whenever in Madison.

I enjoyed my stay at this Holiday Inn East in Madison. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and very attentive to my needs.
