History of Point
By ,
When I was growing up in Chicago, and having to visit my grandparents in Stevens Point every summer as a kid, I wanted my parents to take us somewhere with a pool. However, we never did. The Point Motel was about family, parks, and simple fun. We never stayed at the motel but to sleep, and watch cable TV. We always had fun running around, roller skating, and finding those vending and ice machines. As an adult, it was welcome to see such a nice clean place, with all my good memories. Traveling with my company a lot, I am always in big chain hotels. But this place beats every one of them!

Clean, Tidy, and Comfy
By ,
I wasn't sure to expect when we first pulled in to the Point Motel and checked in. The decor was very outdated and the place where the continental breakfast was served was very small. We got the key to our room and drove over to unpack our belongings. Our room was very clean and the location of the room was great. It was right next to the ice machine. The room smelled and looked very clean, everything was neat and in order, and was very comfortable. If you are looking for a great value at a low price this is the place to stay. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room and looking for luxury ammentities you should stay somewhere else. This is a great place to keep your belongings and lay your head at the end of the night.

Very Nice, Very Clean and Affordable
By ,
We came from Washington State on Greyhound bus to Stevens Point WI. The Bus ended up dropping us off right in front of the Point motel. This worked out for us as we had a lot of luggage. We ordered a dual bed occupancy and it was very clean and kept up. They had a nice yard with shade and a bench to sit on. Very nice as it was very warm and sunny. It was also less than a block away from K-mart, Grocery Store, Liquor Store, Dollar Store. There also is Pizza Hut and another even closer called Toppers. They had very good Pizza. Over all we stayed 4 nights, and would come back again.

Met expectations
By ,
I travel on business several times a year - usually staying at the well known "chains" and paying upwards of $89.00 a night. I stayed here because I wanted to save some money and I wasn't disappointed. On the plus side the staff is pleasant and helpful. There are a number of fast food places, a Starbucks, sit down diner, etc. all within walking distance. The room was reasonably clean. They provided wake up calls and a basic continental breakfast (cereal, toast and coffee) in the lobby. The bed was comfortable. There was an air conditioner that was in working order and a newer television mounted on the wall. My room had a stand up shower (no tub) which wasn't a problem for me. If you're looking for basic accomodations at a good price you probably won't be disappointed. My only complaint was that they used what seemed to me to be an industrial strength cleaner in the room and the fumes were rather strong but it eventually aired out. For $38.00 a night it's a reasonable deal in an aging facility.

The Best in Stevens Point!
By ,
My wife and I travel quite a bit during the summer. so we are always looking for comfort first and saving second. Having heard about The Point and since we would only be there 2 nights thought we would give it a try over another hotel that was recommended. Were we glad we did! While other friends paid 80.00+ a night we stayed for two nights at 42.00 a night (Total after taxes for 2 nights $95.16). This is a no frills hotel. But if you are looking for a clean, comfortable room with cable TV and a recliner to sit and read in. Then this is the one for you! I will have no problem staying here again next year. My friends will stay here too.

All the right things !
By ,
The Point Motel has become one of the last reliable and welcoming place to stay in Stevens Point. Throughout multiple stays the staff and owners have been over-accomodating to our needs as hotel guests. The management has went out of their way to make our stays here positive and comforting. This great repeated service has promted me to write a review for them. Keep up the great work guys! I will only stay at the Point Motel when visiting Stevens Point.

yikes!
By ,
We were at the hotel over the Christmas holiday. When reservations were made, as well as when we checked in, we made it clear to the motel staff that we had 2 dogs. Although the motel claims to open the lobby at 7 am and have a continental breakfast, there was no one there until at least 9 am. And no breakfast to be seen. (Even when we called that morning at 8:30 am, no one answed the phone and no machine picked up.) When we finally got into the lobby area to speak to an employee, the gentleman who was there did not come to the desk until the buzzer was pushed multiple times. He smelled of liquor and was quite surly. When we tried to make a complaint, he said we never told him we had dogs. And that we were lucky he let us have the room. (WHICH WE DID MULTIPLE TIMES- THAT IS WHY WE CHOSE THIS MOTEL.) Someone else was staying there with the same last name, and maybe got us confused. That is not our fault. Even though this place is cheap, we will not stay there again.

You get what you pay for!
By ,
It's not the Hilton. But it was cheaper than all the others in Stevens Point. It was clean, but dated. The mattress was worn and to soft and only one foamy pillow. The continetal breakfast was weak coffee and a box of cereal set out. Our check in time was 12 noon but the rooms weren't ready till 1pm and most paying visitors had to stand outside and wait.

Just fine for my needs
By ,
This hotel was not fancy, but the room was clean and there was a nice comfy recliner in which to sit and read. My only nit was a bit of difficulty getting the water temp consistent in the shower. Great deal for the cost!

Wonderfu Place to Stay
By ,
I would thoroughly recommend the Point Motel. We have stayed there about 6 times now. From the helpful friendly staff to the clean rooms, and wonderful food from a great choice of restaurants near by. The Point Motel is a wonderful place to stay.
