LOVED IT!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/08
Service was great. I will definetly be back for homecoming. I took the family to Madison for the spring game, was bumped up to the Highland Club floor and loved it. Elevators are a little small and slow, but the excellent service form the staff make up for them. And the cookies you receive druring check in are TO DIE FOR!!!!

All set for Halloween!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/07
Check-in was a very slow and unorganized process. When we got into the room in stunk horribly of smoke. This is supposed to be a non smoking hotel. I went to open the window to try to air it out and the window was so covered in spiders and webs it closely resembled a Halloween decoration. My son and I counted 28 spiders on the window. The pool and whirlpool area was not very clean. Towels strewn about and floor was dirty. The whirlpool made a horrible growling noise when you turned it on. Also, most of the overhead lights were burned out or completely missing. The workout room looked like it had not been vacuumed in weeks. Not to mention the only piece of working equipment in there was the treadmill. Everything else was "Out of Order." Hotel advertises a game room and the only machines in the game room were a soda machine and gum ball machine. I booked this room through the hospital that my son had an appointment at and was told the room rate would be $77 I was not informed of any change in the room rate, so during check out I found out that the actual cost I was being charged was $132. I scheduled a charter to take us to our appointment. The charter never showed up. I asked for directions at the front desk and was given wrong directions. Was scheduled at the University Hospital was given directions to Veterans Hospital. Do not recommend to anyone to stay in this hotel.

Try somewhere else first..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/27/07
Or maybe try the Highland club, which I did not. By the 4th day of my stay, the bed was so horrible that my arms would begin to fall asleep just lying there watching tv. Of course, that's nothing compared to the feeling in the morning when you wake up and think you've been knifed repeatedly in your kidneys. Other than that, the place is ok. If you're going to visit the university - stay somewhere else - closer. The hotel shuttle will get you there, at random intervals, but you're about as far away from the 'heart' of campus as you can be. You are right next to the hospital, though, so if you're seeing someone there maybe ask the doc for some pain meds or muscle relaxers and you just might have a good stay. Do NOT order room service. Francies (or whatever the in-house "restaurant" is), is horrible - especially for the price you pay. The best thing that I ate was the bbq chicken pizza; and that was, at best, ok.. most likely because they use someone's bbq sauce instead of their tomato sauce. The wifi was incredibly slow, but indeed free. There is also student housing directly behind the hotel; so you can actually get a better signal from some kid's unsecured router.. fyi.

Perfect Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/05
This was one of the nicest, cleanest, best staffed hotels we've ever been to. It may not look like the pretiest hotel from the outside but they sure make up for it inside, If you go to Madison, stay here, it's awesome.

Near The Hospital and the best hotel
By Ira The Champ, 07/14/05
If you are going to University of Madison Wisconsin and you need some place to say. This is the best hotel in town. They can take you to the hospital. It 5 to 10 min. away. If someone in the family is having an transplant. This is a great place to be and you don't have to be far from the hospital.

Nice Stay
By Shawn, 05/27/05
I stayed at the bestwestern inntowner for graduation weekend a few years back. I also worked there for about 9 months. It's one of the cleaner hotels I've stayed at. They have a shuttle service that will take you up to 2 miles fom the hotel, which is about anywhere downtown and on campus you want to go. The staff is usually pretty knowledgeable about anywhere you want to go. The front desk staff is always willing to help you find out about where you want to go as well as help you get there. For like 10 bucks os so more a night you can stay in the highland club, which is the top level(4 floors). There they have free snacks and drinks at happy hour, the rooms are a little bigger, and you get robes in your room(not to keep lol). Personally I thinks its worth the extra few bucks if you're going to only be there a couple days. The only downside is its a little pricey but that's due to the high land values and high hotel taxes in Madison. It's far enough off downtown that you can sleep easy at night yet close enough that its easy to get there and back. Also their shuttle does ppick you up and does drop offs at the airport which will save you about 20 bucks each way.
