Outdated and a waste of money- stay away!

I'm sure Alpine was nice in its day, but the facility is VERY tired by today's standards. There’s a reason why they do not show daytime photos of the building exterior or any interior room photos on their website. The evening photo with the lights reflecting off the water of the main hotel building is very deceiving. Don't be fooled!
The hotel is outdated and long overdue for a remodeling. The lobby of the main building is dark and tacky looking. The hallways are narrow and are poorly lit.
The hotel room we rented for 2 nights was worse than average and not even up to par with a basic hotel room. Getting into the room was feat in itself, as the door knobs are very loose and the big brass key didn’t fit well. Inside, the room was extremely cramped and awkward. It has a dropped ceiling and by counting the ceiling panels, the bedroom was about 8’x13’. The bed was SO HARD and squeaky that we wondered if it was one of the original mattresses from the early 1900’s? We’re NOT kidding. The bedding is old and needs replacing. There is no alarm clock and no phone in the room. The dresser was decent, however we only stayed 2 nights and didn’t need to use it. The first night we heard a couple talking from another room across the hall and also heard a guy snoring loudly (the place is not very sound proof).
The bathroom was very small and the overall decor needs MAJOR updating. We did have hot water however, which was a blessing. The towels are cheap and thin and actually, with shredded edges. My husband and I joked that this was a week-end to exfoliate (the towels are very worn and rough).
The decor in the room was AWFUL and looked as though it was comprised of really bad garage sale art. The room had no alarm clock and a very old Zenith 14” TV, with no remote control and no cable. We got 3 channels. Did I mention the bed was REALLY hard?
The hotel provides bikes for guests to use… take my advice—bring your own! The bikes are dilapidated and beat up and can’t be decent to ride. We saw one that even had 2 different types of tires on it! The outside wiring looked very scary and unsafe. Wires hang over the driveway and large old lamps hang off the wires(Alpine opened in 1921). Not much has changed with the place since opening.
When checking out, the front desk staff didn’t ask how everything was (I think they know better). I do not imagine they get many/any repeat customers. One stay and you have enough. We paid just over $200 for 2 nights for 2 adults in the main hotel building during the off season. Motel 6 is a luxury hotel compared to this place.
The Alpine golf course was pretty nice. We golfed 9 holes (they have 36) and we golfed on the black 9. The views were very good and all went well with golfing.
Do yourself a favor and take our advice: DO NOT STAY AT THE ALPINE hotel.
