Horrible stay
By Aaron, 05/07/09
first of all for a 3 star hotel the rooms should at least have a/c. Second it was never advised that there is no parking provided. Hotel customers must pay 9 dollars per day extra to park in their parking garage. i could understand if they did not own the garage but they own the garage. The rooms aren't that nice for a 3 star. They have it blocked so that you can not go on the balcony. I asked for a room with a fridge, they said they are giving me a room with a fridge. Got to the room...no fridge. No wifi available in the rooms... only the lobby...staff was nice on the phones but rude in person.

May go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/01/08
The employees was great, went out of there way. We went down for dinner this first night and it was nice, however on the second night we was surprised to see that they remembered us. This was a weekend so you know they was really busy. The beds was the most comfortable beds I have have stayed in. Pool and hot tub was nice. Mall across the road was nice. Had to get an elevator, so used steps alot. Had to pay to park, and for internet which most hotels offers for free. Would stay again if prices was a little less, or didn't have to pay for extras. All and the funnist thing yet, which wasn't their fault. Had a shelter in place do to some oder outside. They they removed it but smell was so bad couldn't breath outside. Just a little extra.

the real deal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/08
OK, first this hotel has a very convenient location particularly if you have an event at the Civic Center and if you want to go to the Mall. The bedding has to be the most comfortable I have ever slept on and I have traveled quite a bit. However, the noise makes it difficult to sleep, the trains ran all night as did the elevators - bing, bong, all night long. The parking does cost - $6 per night. The pool and hot tub are nice but if it is a weekend and they are pretty booked, as they often are, then the pool and hot tub are very, very crowded. In the morning it is much nicer. The exercise room is very nice and more than adequate with all machines working well. The breakfast is good but we were not told that it was free so I chose only coffee as I am not a huge breakfst eater and buffet was kind of pricey. The advertisement onthe internet said "kids eat free" - this i breakfast only, be aware of that. All in all, not a bad hotel, but a little overpriced for what you get.

Watch out for noisy rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
Overall, the Marriott Town Center in Charleston has a lot going for it: comfortable rooms, a good restaurant, a desirable location downtown, and free internet access in the business center. Unfortunately, rooms on the south side of the building (with the king beds) are above the inadequately soundproofed second floor ballroom, and we were dismayed to discover that loud music from nighttime receptions there was an audible nuisance--even up on the 10th floor where we were staying. Apparently the management is aware of the problem but does not hesitate to book late night receptions with music for the ballroom, despite the obvious bother the noise imposes on many of their other guests. On Friday, our first night there, the music ended at 10 p.m. On Saturday, however, it kept going until 11 p.m. Then, on Monday night (it was a holiday weekend), we discovered the music was contracted to blast until midnight. When we expressed concern, the front desk staff offered to switch us to a room across the hall (the rooms with two double beds), which we gladly accepted. Finally, we had a restful and quiet night at this hotel. Also, be prepared for long waits for crowded elevators on a busy weekend -- only two of the three elevators were working regularly for hundreds of guests to access the 16 floors, which required lots of patience. (Apparently the third doubles as a freight elevator, and at least during our stay was not typically available.) Because of these problems, we would hesitate before staying there again...or at least, insist on a room on the quiet north side of the building.

Great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/06
Wonderful people, great service. Price is competitive and location is terrific. Restaurant is very good and there are many restaurants within walking distance. Indoor pool and fitness center are fine. You will like this hotel. Rooms are not the biggest so if you book a room with a king size bed it will take up most of the room. The bedding is very comfortable.

Town Center Mall
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/06
Now if you really want to shop this is the place! My kids love Spencers & Hot Topics! When we go there i cant get them out of these stores...My daughter likes Hot Topics because of their cloths! And my son likes Spencers because of Collector Action Figures of movies such as Chucky or Hellraiser! Any kind of action figure you can find it here, and we also like the Dipping Dots! We have a great time here every time we go!

Very accessible
By Krista, 06/08/05
The Marriott at Charleston is centrally located and right across the street from the Towncenter Mall and Charleston Civic Center, and within 1-4 blocks of some very nice restaurants. It also has two restaurants in the lobby for those who wish to not leave the hotel. The parking garage accessibility was wonderful and the come-and-go pass during my stay made leaving and coming back easy. The pool was heated and very comfortable, however, the whirlpool was just a tad too hot. The beds were sooo comfortable - I slept like a baby. Probably the only thing I didn't like was that there was a charge for every (little) thing - a 1 liter bottle of water in the room was $4.00 and high-speed internet access in the room was a charge. You can go to the business center for free access but when it's late at night and you just want to finish up some work while watching TV, it is a hassle.
