Hotel Max, Seattle

I called and requested two beds weeks before we arrived. We drove 9 hours then were told at check-in that two beds would be a $30 upcharge! On top of that, they charged another $30 for parking! So they robbed my family for another $60 befoe we got in the miniscule room. In trying to find a nice hotel at a reasonable rate, we got screwed. For what they tacked on, we could have stayed at a first class hotel, instead of this "boutique hotel' wannabe. Never, never again. Tell your friends

room was small, but nice. convenient location, but i would not recommend the hotel max to light sleepers due to the street noise (3rd floor corner room).

This is a nice, low profile hotel. You can almost walk right by it if not paying attention. The rooms are fairly small as I read in every other review, but for the average person, or 2, there is more than enough room. The staff is friendly and Red Fin (right next door) has a good breakfast. You are only a 10min walk (casual pace) from Pike's Place so we walked there every day of our stay. They did have hot water heater problems during our stay, which needless to say after working out was concerning. They did arrange for us to use the facilities at a local (executive gym) that were very nice. We did have to walk 5min or so, but they took 50% off our room that night. Over all, I would stay here again.

My partner and I stayed at the Max 4/1 for 2 nights. We LOVED it. It is a fun funky hotel. The service was topnitch from bellmen to housekeeping. We had a corner king room on the 10th floor. Amazing room with amazing view. This hotel is not for those wanting a big chain box feel or those who get offended easily at edgy art. We will definately stay at the MAX anytime we are in Seattle!!

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Max over the fourth of July weekend. We absolutely loved everything except for the size of the room (we stayed in their standard King room). The amenities, service, comfort level, location, value and cleanliness were all superb. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our friends stayed at the Grand Hyatt just down the street and paid twice as much for a bigger, but comparable room. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Hotel Max for a wonderful value and enjoyable stay!

Great location, terrific staff and lots of fun to stay! We found this hotel on the web and it was definitely a "great find." We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Seattle. We look forward to going back. Cindy & David Portland, ME

After booking online, I received two pre-visit emails from Hotel Max -- just in case I needed anything or had any questions about the hotel -- nice touch. The hotel is a great-looking place with extremely comfortable beds/bedding. All of the amenities I could ask for were there. The service was outstanding. Food at the connected restaurant was superb (seafood/sushi). Spendy cocktails, but this was downtown, so I expected it. What a great location for a quick trip to Seattle. I went to attend a Monday Night Football game at Qwest, and this was a great location for that, as well as Pike Place Market, the waterfront and the Space Needle. I will definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the Max for two nights and was thrilled to leave. The rooms are miniscule. In some cases the showers are a closet and there is no proper bathroom. My main complaint is the lack of speedy exit due to inadequate elevator service. In one instance, five people were stalled in the elevator. The elevator just didn't move for what seemed over five minutes. We had to call for emergency help. After finally getting out, we tried to exit the building via the stairs only to find the very confusing signage directing us back to the second floor in order to take the elevator to the lobby which we attempted to do. Since there are only two elevators, both of which are miniscule (1500 lb max) we pressed the button waiting for both to arrive. One never came. The cleaning staff had it stopped on one of the floors since there is no separate service elevator that we saw. The other elevator came up and went down full of work people with equipment, or just full (5 people) two times. We finally just decided to go down the steps to the exit regardless of what the signs said and met about eight to ten people in the stairwell who had decided to do the same thing. We ended up out in an alley behind the hotel, but we were finally out! It was just a horrible experience. If there had been a fire, it would have been a disaster. The "laid back" manager could have cared less when confronted with a concern about the happening. I have never seen such a lack of professionalism in the hospitality industry and I travel alot. Believe me, there are better places to stay in Seattle with staff that cares about its guests and their safety.

We'd go back to the Hotel Max without hesitation. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Max and found the following things to be good about it. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the Hotel Restaurant and bar are great!! we hit the Red Fin every night for wine and sushi. The location is good, you can walk easily to the market, to the monorail to go to the space needle and to great shopping. The staff are outstanding and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The downside is the room size, the rooms are small and the bathroom becomes difficult with multiple people staying in one room. However, we didn't go to Seattle to sit in our room, so this was really a minor point. Parking is expensive and we'd probably opt NOT to rent a car as most everything is accessible via the Metro buses or by foot.

We loved the restaurant downstairs and the rooms are great. The bathroom is AWFULLY small and cramped but cute, and the elevator situation is dire, waiting for elevators and elevators being full because they are so tiny. The location is great though, close to all the downtown fun and action. We will definitely go back as it is a good value in spite of the negatives, which have a lot to do with the age of the building.
