Fantastic Hotel!
By velaminty, 03/23/09
I had an excellent stay at the Westin. I was in the North Tower, 45th Floor, Sunday through Thursday. I had a king bed, and there was also a couch with a pull-out double bed. I didn't use it, but it was nice to have the option if I had had more people staying. The view was extraordinary, the room was large, and the staff at the hotel was very helpful. The room was expensive, but other than the cost, I had no complaints - only praise. The elevators were excellent - less than 10 seconds to go 45 floors. I didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't assess the restaurants on location, but I did order Milano's Pizza one night (they deliver to the room), and it was great. I was in town on a business trip, but I will definitely look forward to staying at the Westin again with my family for a vacation stay - maybe only a day at that price, but it would be nice for them to get to experience this excellent hotel too!

Not a good choice
By James Cat, 12/05/08
The price is expensive as it is, and nothing is included either. Parking is ridiculous ($35 a day!) and there is no free internet in the room - wireless or wired. You can go to the lobby, and they will give you a code (which expires after an hour), but it's a hassle. Much of the hotel is old - fitness rooms, elevators, parking garage - they haven't been maintained very well. The room was a little small (I was with 3 others), but it was clean and well serviced. The concierge desk was helpful, they have menus for most of the local eating spots and will provide you a number to make a reservation. The hotel is right downtown, within walking distance of Pike Place Market, Westlake and Pacific Place shopping centers. The monorail runs right by the hotel from Westlake to the Needle.

Very expensive, "sorta" worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/08
Not really what I would expect for a four star hotel. Very clean rooms, nice view. Loved the heavenly bed. The people at the concierge were snobbish, and didn't recommend any good places. The location was good, but the price was just insane. Everything had a "fee"...not alot of complimentary stuff. Also, the pool area was kind of lame...wished they had a sauna/steamroom. Next time we'll go with something a bit cheaper.

Filthy Elevators
By Sandy, 07/09/08
We arrive at the Westin in downtown Seattle in the morning after disembarking from our cruise. They gladly held our luggage until we could get into our room so we could do some sightseeing. The pre-checkin clerk asked for cell phone number to notify us when the room was ready later that morning. Phone call never received so we waited until the normal checkin time of 3pm to get into our room....strike one for a 4 star hotel to offer a service but not follow through. Strike two was when we got on the elevator to go our room on the south tower. The carpet was so grimy and stained my toes still curl just thinking about it even though I had shoes on! We rode 2 of the 3 elevators and the carpet in both were disgusting. Strike three was the spot in the carpet in our room. It didn't look like a stain, just a drink spill that was in excess of a square foot. The little green machine or whatever they're called could easily have cleaned it up. Yes, this 4 star hotel also has 4 strikes. We had reservation for one night. The maid made 3 attempts to clean our room before we checked out, the first attempt being before 8am while we were still in bed! Apparently this hotel has no pride and just wants to get people in and out as fast as they can. I'll stay in a 2 star motel before the Westin in downtown Seattle

Poor Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/08
We booked through travelocity. When our flight was cancelled due to snow and ice and delayed a full day out, Westin refused to refund 1 of our 2 nights. For a 200+ per night hotel, that seems a bit greedy. Not to mention, the view wasn't that great, the air didn't work at all (barely slept that night). I expect at a minimum the air to work for a $$$ room. Still waiting to hear back from Travelocity whether or not they will refund us (they told us they would BEFORE we left town and then refused when we got back). We also happily ate the cost of the rental car for that extra day. We won't be dealing with either any time soon...

Make sure its not windy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
The Westin downtown is beautifull, well worth the money to stay there and so close to downtown attractions. With that said make sure that on the night of your stay it is not windy. I stayed at the Westin during our wind storm last year and was scarred for life. The winds today reminded me that I forgot to write my review. Anyway I stayed on the 17th floor and didnt sleep a wink, all night the whole hotel was filled with the sound of creaking steel, my bathroom door opened and closed all night long and the water in the toilet sloshed as well. Since the Westin is built to bend in an earthquake you can expect this everytime the winds are strong. I think that the most disapointing part was that the staff didnt seem to care. That plus the fact that I spent 220$ for the one night and they didnt even comp my parking.....even after the horrible experience. Yes its not their fault that it was windy but a little schmoozing would have been nice. Jen

Just plain rude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
I've been in alot of hotels over the years and this one is an extreme disappointment. We booked a room with a King bed 5 months before our trip. I called two weeks beforehand to double check and the room was confirmed. We arrived late due to a delayed flight and we were given a room with a Murphy bed (full size mattress). We spoke directly with the manager the next morning. His terse comment. "We are only obligated to give you a room". We were still charged $250 for our Murphy bed. Our breakfast waitress was also very, very rude and slow. We will never use Westin again and told the manager so. He was not impressed. My advice is go to the Sorento hotel just down the road. They were very very nice in helping us with directions, etc.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/07
This place was filty. From the lobby carpets to the room carpets. I changed rooms three times before I found a clean, acceptable room. Excited early to avoid another dismal night. Spend a few more dollars and get a clean room!
