Good location, clean, standard Marriott

The old Madison Hotel, now a Marriott Renaissance, has been renovated (as of 2009 April) except for the lobby area, due for completion April. I had a "corner suite", 23rd floor. Everything was clean and comfortable. The rooms are small even for a Marriott, but, it is the middle of a city. Good towels and other room amenities. Shop for rates. I paid $170 for my suite and got my choice of free parking or free breakfast daily. Yes, Internet access is $13 pretty much like every other hotel in any city, but it is FREE on the 28th floor Visions lounge (even when it is "closed") and on the 2nd floor Maxwell's restaurant (just sit in the restaurant waiting area). Staff is extremely friendly (even for a Marriott). Taxis available outside the door. Concierge has umbrellas by the door. The yellow Greyhound airporter $12 SeaTac door 00) stops at the Renaissance first from the airport. Maxwell's food was actually quite good. Visions drink prices about typical for a bar with a view. Parking is expensive (duh) but why rent a car in Seattle? That's like renting a car in New York City. Just use taxis or take city busses (they're free). 6 blocks to the waterfront. 5 to Westlake Plaza center of town (and monorail to Seattle Center). Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee cafes every block. I was there for the Seattle Ballet. Yes, it was raining.
