Could have been worse
My 18-year-old daughter and I arrived late, and we called ahead to let them know we were still coming. When we got in, they gave us a room but *it was already occupied*. Yes, the key they gave us opened the door and there was already someone sleeping in the room. At first they said (a) that the only other room had a king bed but they could give us a roll-a-way, or (b) they could kick the person out of the room because they weren't supposed to be there. Neither, of course, was acceptable. Eventually another employee found a different room with two beds. That room was mostly OK but there was some water damage on the ceiling. The main other problem I had was that the open pool in the middle of the first floor made much of the hotel smell of chlorine. Other than those issues, the staff was generally helpful and our stay was uneventful. We were visiting Western Washington University, and the location was very convenient for that. The hotel restaurant was a little on the expensive side for breakfast (I'd have preferred that they at least offered a buffet option, as I paid a la carte for what was essentially buffet food, fruit & pancakes) but for dinner they did a fine job. It was a decent value mostly because, as a government employee, they gave me the government rate for personal travel. At full price I would have been a little more disappointed.
