Ocean Holiday Hotel, Virginia Beach

My friend and I were on spring break. We are teachers and looking for a great time. Well on day 3 of our stay, some boys threw a Sprite bottle (with water in it) over the balcony which hit her on the leg. We asked them if they threw it. Well of course they said NO so we reported it to the desk. We got the police involved and all the front desk could say was "We have to give them a warning and we can't put them out". WHAT! A guest assalted another guest as they walked past their room to go into the building. The room and location was great but the service and value of commitment to their customers was aweful. Plus they just changed their name to Days Inn so they are bringing their name down.

We stay at the Ocean Holiday Hotel every year that we attend the annual Soul Music Festival because of it's PERFECT location (it's adjacent to the Pavillion). The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that their parking lot is small and fills up fast, so we usually have to park a block away in their overflow parking lot, but we plan to stay there this year as well.

I am the 16 year old daughter of a family that has stayed here every year since I was at least three. By now the hotel staff knows us all by first name, and are exceptionally friendly. The location is simply amazing, it's close to -everything- from food to entertainment and shopping. Not to mention the views which are incredible!! I get up every morning to watch the sunrise from our oceanfront balcony. Even the days which are rainy are entertaining. You can sit on you balcony and watch the storm and all the silly people that try and get onto the beach when it's closed. =) My only complaints would be the fact that the pool is a little chilly, and only once have I seen the largest cockroach in my entire life. I would recommend this place to everyone!!

My life partner and I stayed here while visitng Virginia Beach the second week in March 2008. It was chilly there but we made the best of it. The hotel staff was so nice and considerate. Being a same swex couple we take alot of stares and whispers but here we were welcomed with open arms. Our room was clean. The rooms are big. The ocean view was wonderful. They don't have alot of the comforts I am used to in other places, like coffee makers in the room, blow dryer, shampoo, alarm clock. There is a frig and it worked great. I plan to take the rest of the family there this summer so we can enjoy the beach front and ocean. If you plan to stay here just remember to bring your own personal stuff and you'll be fine. It is close to everything. You never need to get in your car. You can rent bikes right down stairs. We didn't go in the pool but saw it and it looked clean. It is enclosed.

Our U-10 Girls Soccer team (any many others) were registered to stay here for the Virginia Rush Cup Soccer tournament that was supposed to be held March 8-9th. The tournament was canceled due to inclement weather and the hotel, which required a one night's deposit up front, refused to refund the deposit to our team and the many others. Their cancellation policy clearly stated that changes or cancellations must be made at least 72 days in advance. I was hoping that the hotel would waive its policy seeing how the tournament was canceled due to inclement weather and that so many teams had booked rooms. No such luck. They also declined to offer us a voucher for a future stay. Next time, I think I'd rather fork over a few extra bucks and book with a more reputable hotel who let's you cancel your reservations the same day with little or no penalty.

No a/c in lobby, hallways or elevator. The pool was small and very cold. Check in and out was easy though. But I wouldn't go back due to the lack of a/c.

We have stayed at Ocean Holiday about four times now. Our entire family enjoys this hotel. The service is friendly and efficient, the rates are a good value, the location is great, there is an indoor pool so the kids can swim even if it is raining, it is convenient to other attractions, bike rental is available on the corner of the hotel.

I stayed at the Ocean Holiday for the first time and will never go back again. The carpet was filthy and the room and bathrooms were questionable. I had the biggest insect in my room that I have ever seen in my life. I initially thought it was a mouse. When I called the desk, they said they would send someone up, but that person never arrived so I had to take on the insect alone. As far as room amenities, an iron and refrigerator were it, not even a clock. I had to keep checking my cell phone for the time. Needless to say, I’m now willing to pay more to have a clean room without bugs. The only positive thing I can say is the view was nice!!

I like this hotel because it is the cheapest place that we found and It was located in a great place. The Rooms could have been a little cleaner and I really needed a blow dryer and they do not have that in there rooms, but for the price and the location I would stay there again......just bring my own hair dryer the next time!! I totally recommend it!

This was my family's first visit to Virginia Beach. The Ocean Holiday made this first visit one to remember. The staff was very friendly. They even let us check in three hours early. This was a big plus considering we drove over 8 hours through the night to get there, and we had a sixteen month old baby with us. The location was great because we could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go. This hotel was very clean. The only complaint we had was that the indoor pool was quite cold. We will definatly stay at this hotel again. The prices at the Ocean Holiday are very reasonable.
