Stayed at the Summit many times
By ,
We have stayed at the Summit several times every ski season for the last 5 or 6 years. It's especially great with kids 'cause it's like a great big house with room to spread out but not so huge that you can't let the kids have some freedom. They have a huge living room with an extra large fireplace where we love to play cards and hang out...a pub where they serve dinner.....everything from burgers to salmon.....we love not having to get dressed and get in the car after a long day of skiing...we go in our slippers and the kids wear their flannel pj pants.....indoor hot tub....outdoor heated pool where we've had loads of fun swimming with the snow all around us....a game room........laundry....there's even a library where my daughter loves to go and read..........And who could resist the resident St. Bernards Otto and Louise........they are just the most lovable beasts...........To top it all off, they serve a great hot breakfast.........omelets, eggs any style, hot cereal, pancakes, french toast and my personal favorite, eggs benedict. We love the Summit and will continue to go back as long as they'll have us!

Could not wait to leave!
By ,
The room decor is very outdated. There are cracks in the walls, unsanded/unpainted spots on the ceiling. Bed never felt clean, the 30 year old bed spread had stains on it. There are no nightstands, for no apparant reason because there was room for them. The bathroom was gross. The soap holder was so old it was rusted. The shower head was too low for me, my poor husband was practically bent in half trying to shower. Not to worry though, the shower water temp was so erratic you did your best to get out as fast as possible before you were scalded or froze to death or maybe I rushed because the shower curtain liner was so gross and it kept hitting me because the shower is too small. The bathroom sink was clogged so you could not run the water to rinse your mouth without having to shut it off quickly. The toilet paper was like newspaper and the towels were not far behind. You cannot walk to anything except the Grist Mill and the shuttle service to ski is not worth the wait.

Feels like home!
By ,
Nice place to stay. Not your typical cookie cutter hotel rooms where everything is the same. The rooms have an at home feel to them. Rooms are kept clean. They have a great common area with games, sofas & a fireplace. Dogs are welcome treat since we have to leave ours home when we come skiing. Wonderful breakfast, with plenty of choices. Friendly staff, never had a problem with any of them. The shuttle drivers were great. We were actually referred here by another hotel where we used to stay because they were booked up that year. We tried the Summit and haven't gone back to the old hotel since.

one of the worst hotels i have ever stayed at...!
By ,
When we first called the hotel we booked a suite. Didnt receive confirmation email so we called back several days later. They're computers were "acting up," so our reservation never got made. Booked it again. Same thing happened again. Got it right the third time but they gave someone else our suite and we got another room. When we arrived the room was terrible, small, outdated, tiny sink, bad paint job, holes in blankets. We didnt complain at the time. Returned home from skiing the first day to find our door left open. In the far corner was a blanket that housekeeping had thrown on the floor. The cleaners had also stepped on my girlfriend's glass which were left on the floor by the side of the bed because there is no bedside table. Sheets were the wrong size for the mattress and always came off even after we complained several times. The staff are foul. They obviously don't know anything about running a hotel because they treat guests like visiting family members. When you're paying $320/night, you at least want to feel like you are paying for a tiny bit of service. The food at the restaurant is okay for the most part, but their New Year's Eve menu was some of the worst food I have ever had in my life. Overall, one of the worst travelling experiences of my life. I also work in the hospitality industry so I know a little bit about what I am talking about. Their dogs are nice, but they don't do much. It is also a pain to get to this hotel because it is not walking distance from anything and their shuttle runs twice a day, probably the only hotel in Killington to do so. Ultimately, we ended up changing hotels. However, they double billed our account and have still not refunded the charges even though they have admitted the mistake. We even had to arrange for them to speak to our credit card company in Latvia. This is first time I've heard of anything like that. Usually refunds are processed in seconds on a credit card machine. I would not have minded so much if the staff had smiled once the entire stay. I can put up with a mediocre hotel because I am there to ski but I cannot accept a staff that argues with their guests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. In fact, I would strongly advise AGAINST staying at this hotel for the hundred reasons I have just listed.

NIce not extravagant
By ,
The location is excellent if you are going to ski Killington & or Pico. We were there with our two young children while sightseeing in Vermont. Our room was adaquate but dated. The room was somewhat rustic in nature. The place was clean and the maid service seemed good. It certainly is not a luxury place but there was nothing in particular to complain about. The kids enjoyed the pool and oversized indoor hot tub. Johnny's Pancake House is down the road and the breakfasts were 1st rate. The Grist Mill Restaurant located at the bottom of the driveway to the Inn was nothing to write home about. It was mediocre & expensive.

Quaint and cozy
By ,
Not your standard corporate hotel lodging -- a little rustic, but in a nice way. Staff seems to genuinely want to make sure you have a good time. Somewhat family oriented, very accomodating to families with smaller children.

Great Stay
By ,
Spent two nights at The Summit while attending a ski event at Killington. The staff was warm and welcoming. They provided great info on local eateries. Will be making this trip from Connecticut an annuall thing as long as I get to stay at The Summit.
