I enjoyed my stay at the Grey Bonnet, for the first time in Vermont, I loved this Inn, I used it as a base to visit and see the fall colour.

Good place to stay
By ,
Stayed for a couple of days. Proprieter Paul was excellent, went above and beyond. Olivers restaurant has great burgers, cooked to perfection. Wait staff very attentive. 5 miles to Killington slopes, a short 10 minute drive or use shuttle service. Would definately stay again. Nice place for families or large groups.

True Vermont Experience
By ,
If you're looking for 1st class accomodations in the Killington area then this is probably not the place for you. For in fact this inn is run more like a bed and breakfast then a hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable. If noise is an issue for you then book a room on the 3rd floor as with most wooden structures the floors can be squeaky. The proprietors, Karen and Paul Steele are very personable and go out of their way to make you feel at home without being overbearing as can be the case in some B&Bs. The included full breakfasts are very good with my personal favorites the poached eggs and blueberry pancakes. The inn itself is very charming and comfortable with a beautiful dining room, lounge area, pub style bar, large lounge/game room in the basement with ping pong, pocket billiards, bumper pool and a very nice library. A heated indoor pool is very inviting though the advertised hot tub was not operating at the time. The grounds are well maintained with an outdoor pool and tennis court for summertime visitors. The inn is located within walking distance of Gifford State Park for the hikers out there and Kent Pond for the canoers, kayakers and fishermen. Also nearby is a great golf course that has induced the Steeles to offer exceptionally valued golf packages. All major Vermont attractions are within driving distance from Rutland to Quechee and from Burlington to Westin. Though we only dined at the on-site restaurant, Olivia's, twice during our 5 night stay, the food was very good and fairly priced considering that it can be a challenge to find decent food without a major drive in this area. though we do not drink it appeared that there was an excellent wine list. All in all we would stay here again as it was a good value and a true Vermont experience. For those concerned about limitations caused by a lack of patrons during your stay, by all means call them in advance and ask when are the best times to book. Our personal favorite time in Vermont is the fall as the foliage can be spectacular which can run anywhere during the last two weeks in September to the first two weeks in October.

My home away from home.
By ,
My family and I spent three days here, for a ski weekend. I was suspect of the price at first, but after the complete stay it was worth it. Innkeeper was warm with a gracious "welcome". Our room was very clean with bathrooms looking like they were remodeled, also bright and clean. Family enjoyed the indoor pool and jacuzzi and game rooms. My wife and I tried Olivia's Restaurant and were surprised at the quality of service and meals. The slopes were a few miles away but, with shuttle service to and from the mountain we left the car parked at the Inn. Ending our ski weekend with a drink and our feet up by the fire was really the cherry on top. We will be back next year for sure.

Very Memorable
By ,
I was impressed with this place for the simple reason that it had a "thing" for everyone. From libraries, to piano rooms, to a game room, pool, sauna, gym and most of all AFFORDABLE. We spent enough on skiing so it was a relief that the lodge wasn't expensive. Shuttle bus very helpful. The only thing I dislike now, is the fact that rates went up. Now it's one of the logdes where you don't have the comfort of the right price. I'd like to be there but not at such price.

Will never return
By ,
When I first saw the hotel I thought I was going to be happy. But after staying there three nights I was disgusted with everything. First of all the pool was not working and the bathrooms stunk and were not too clean. Another thing was that there was no A/C and the rooms had mold and smelled old. I could also hear people snoring and farting from the other room. The owners seemed pretty nice but after knowing them for four days I was dissapointed. Only consider this place if you want to have a horrible vacation.
