Nice railroad hotel in a historic district
This is a nicely-maintained classic old hotel in the historic railroad district of White River Junction. It's not new or luxurious but it is clean, comfortable, and maintained by a friendly and enthusiastic staff. For the rates, it's an excellent value.
The location is great (if you don't mind the sound of a train going by now and then). It's right in downtown White River, a short walk to a great health food store and the Tip Top Building, which houses a number of artists, a nice art gallery, and a good restaurant. There's also a classic diner, the Polka Dot, a half a block from the Coolidge's front door.
A theatre, the Northern Stage, is in the same block too, and many of the actors stay in the Coolidge.
It's ten minutes from Hanover, NH (where Dartmouth College is located) and close to all the good shopping in the Upper Valley.
WiFi is in the works, and there are many interesting community activities in the area, including the Glory Days of the Railroad in early September, in the square in front of the hotel.
