Horrible
By AJ012, 07/30/08
I disliked this hotel for several reasons. The rooms were dark and depressing. We were placed in smoking rooms and we asked for non-smoking. Inside the bathroom was mold an mildew under the sink and on the shower curtains. The comforter on the bed was dusty an looked like it hadnt been changed in years. This hotel is in need of a huge remodel!!!

Disgusting!
By SaraServal, 08/11/07
There were kids laying in the hallways on every floor. Hotel room doors were left wide open by the occupants. I had asked for room maintenance to fix two light fixtures every day of the visit - 5 days! Never fixed! Out of those five days, I asked for 3 wake up calls - never received them. Restaurant prices are high and the quality of food is not that great. Internet connection super slow! Electronic Key to the room had to be fixed four or five times a day at the front desk to gain access to the room! And when I approached a maid concerning no clean towels, she told me that my room was not scheduled to be cleaned that day. It appears the rooms are cleaned every other day or every two days! Disgusting!

Felt like home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
The staff was so kind and helpful. The rooms were very clean and I liked the duvet that was on the bed. Felt like it was cleaner that the typical spread.

If you need wireless, forget it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/07
The hotel is clean, comfortable and convenient to all Plano locations and restaurants. But, if you depend on wireless service to work, forget it. The internet service is spotty at best and when it does work, it's not much faster than dial-up. If you stay here, you'll need Kinko's which is about 1/2 mile south of the hotel. It's going to be a frustrating week!

A really nice hotel
By Kristin, 03/21/07
This was a really nice hotel at a great price. The rooms are good size and comfortable. My only complaints are the wireless internet signal was not strong enough to be used from my room and there was a fire at 3am during our stay (which was a bit disturbing actually) that resulted in us spending the rest of that night on the couch at my sister's house and they did not do anything to make up for that. Despite the fire (which was caused by a smoker dropping a cigarette), we had an overall positive experience. The front desk staff were very friendly and housekeeping was excellent.

Fitting to the 1970s Television Progran
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/09/06
With interiors smacking of the seventies, the Southfork Hotel offers travelers a taste of the past, albeit one which few are seeking. Although the staff is helpful and friendly, be warned that the normal double rooms are far from luxurious, nor is the hotel a jewel by any stretch of the imagination. An additional minus, granted one over which the hotel has no control, are the strict alcohol regulartions in Plano, Texas. Out of state visitors, to obtain even a beer, must "register" at the restaurant or bar in order to gain access to booze.

Great for the Business Traveler
By Craig, 06/19/05
I was in Plano on business just last week. I stayed at the SouthFork for 4 days. The Southfork's restaurant, lounge, souvenir shop, and computer room met my needs quite nicely. I didn't have time to use the pool or the exercise room this visit. I hope to during my next visit. The breakfast was on the house for my entire visit. (Great breakfast!) The hallways are non-descript, but my room was clean and comfortable. I had Cable TV channels galore and an oversized desk with in room wireless Internet access. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The hotel's location is central to just about anything in Plano. I highly recommend this hotel for business travelers.

Glad to be home again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
I've stayed here more than once. I liked that it was close to where I needed to be. The rooms are large enough for a couple of nights away. However.... I disliked the very limited and unimaginative menu; the food is overpriced. The restaurant staff were grumpy and often absent. The rooms are noisy if the fridge or airconditioning is running. Very limited channels on the TV. The shower head gave a very poor flow. One final point: The room has several signs inviting me to forgo clean towels and bed linen in order to save the environment. The signs could offer to pass on the monetary savings to me but, of course, predictably, they do not. To use a well-loved phrase: what's in it for me?
