It's always nice at the Driskill..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/11
I've stayed here once before, and had a great time! You can't be a penny pincher to really enjoy this hotel! The Driskill is one of life's little pleasures, and to really enjoy yourself, just throw the budget out the window, book a room with a balcony, have a seat in the bar, and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

used cafe only
By pokeyjay, 8/8/11
spent nearly $45 for lunch and it really wasn't worth it. Had better at the Holiday Inn Towne Lake, wouldn't go again, desert was nasty, pineapple upside down cake, don't do it, I regret the 8.50 I paid for it.

Great beds. Great service. Didn't get the stay long but while I was there it was a pleasant experience. Recommended. Great for relaxing after hectic business trips.

Historic and nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/07
I am frequent guest at Driskill. The service is very good and the elegant dining room is superb. Zagat talks about some rooms being the size of Texas while others are more like Rhode Island. That is very true description. The rooms are generally nice but quite small.

Old World meets New Age
Never spent the night but practically lived there for lunches over a 2 year period during which I lived in Austin (2004-2006). Delicious, affordable food and one of the classiest hotels in the USA ... the Old West meets European charm by way of East Coast sophistication - A functioning work of art!

Girls weekend out
By DIANE, 4/22/07
2 of my friends and I went down to Austin for a girls night out. We stayed at the Driskill in the newer tower on the 12th floor. The room was great and the price wasn't bad for the luxury and eminities of the hotel. We didn't have one of the historic rooms on the first 3 floors but really liked out room. The hotel is perfectly located and they have a terrific bakery/cafe for breakfast or lunch. It's actually open very late as well. The piano lounge was wonderful and if you want really fancy dinning you have the option of their restaurant on the premise. When you walk in the hotel is instantly beautiful! The front desk staff we excellent too. We just loved it and will stay again. We were also able to walk around the fun parts of 6th street right from the hotel. Great place!!!!

not worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/31/07
Great location and decent rooms but the service was horrible. We had multiple problems that took repeated attempts to be rectified and they didn't even apologize. They were very unprofessional. If I hadn't had paid a reduced rate I would've rated the value a 1. I don't recommend the hotel. THere are other hotels in the area.

Too much money $$$$$
By l, 8/23/06
The food was average at best including the Driskill Grill. They actually had a salad that was ring molded!! The Quail I had was raw and my fish entree was way overcooked. Is this the best that Austin has? I might as well have gone to a little greasy spoon down the street. At least they might have had a cleaner bathroom! At the bar, we met their chef, oh how arrogant he is. We told him how disappointed we were with the meal, and he offered no apology, but actually questioned my knowledge of food. From someone who has lived and dined in many NY hotspots, I do not care for some overpaid chef to tell me how qauil is best medium-rare. He made me want to throw-up!!! I will not be back.
