Whether you are a compulsive shopper or want to catch the latest play in town or even visit one of the art galleries or tourist attractions, this is the place to be. It is NOT 3.5 stars
By J, 4/9/11
Booked a 3.5 star hotel through Orbitz. When we learned it was The Preston, we checked the website and felt like we were lucky to get to stay there...WRONG! When we I arrived to The Preston, from walking into the lobby we knew something was amiss. The clientele looked rather questionable (seriously looked like meth addicts staying there) entire hotel wreaked of smoke and cloves, it was dingy and dark and felt dirty and gross! To top it off, at midnight the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the building. Even though we booked a week, we checked out the next day and fortunately Orbitz worked with us. We told them that the Preston Hotel was falsely rating themselves as a 3.5 star hotel when they are merely a 1 star dump, desguised behind down comforters and pet fish!

Not My Cup Of Tea
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/20/11
I stayed at preston on 1/18/11. Rate I paid was $119 plus taxes. Now this hotel is not gonna be on everyones list. some people hate it and some people love it. I travel alot and have been to many hotels. Hotel Preston was different in its own kind of way. It offers you choices of pillow, robe in your bathroom, even fish tank or lava lamp in your roon if you need it. This hotel has dark colors in room and throughout the hotel. Their color theme is red and black. The bar was somewhat depressing feel to it, maybe because I am young and the crowd over there ranged from 30-40 years old. They do have a pool table there and it kept me entertained and drinks are reasonable price for a bar. Internet is like $8-$10 because their directory says one price and front desk is different price. Parking is not bad, as many people said, the location is very odd. It shares it parking with kaplan university so when the classes are out, there are about 20-30 leaving the parking lot. No valet parking so thats good in my case. I hate paying for valet, and dont trust them. Breakfast. you have to pay for it, I never went to breakfast so don't know the quality. Channels. Not many choices at all unless you order the movie or something. There is nothing nearby the hotel except one gas station, but hotel does provide shuttle service. Now my experience with my reservation was ok. I did a walk in and got rate of $119. Got my room keys and went to my room and within two minutes some other guest opened my room and it was a confusion by front desk clerk. This always happens at hotel so no big deal for me unless i was sleeping or something. We had to WALK DOWN stairs because the elevator is activated by room key and since front desk clerk redid the room keys for different guest it unactivated mine. Front desk clerk offered coupons for breakfast value $20 and free wifi for my room. Room was nice, comfortable, and I felt bathroom was little too small but no big deal. There is not much stuff in bathroom but you can always request it at front desk. The sink was used not cleaned because its stainless steel sink and you can see white spots but i am not picky so no big deal. Bathtub had brunette hair in there and i have black hair so differently not mine but once again I am not bothered by it. They redid the whole room but somehow managed to keep old phones, very dirty. you can hear stuff in hallways, door slamming and stuff. I am 25 years old and I didnt see anyone close to my age. This hotel is mostly for business people, mostly travelers from airport . Overall nice hotel but not for young couple.

Customer Service is non-existent at Hotel Preston
By Cynthia, 2/15/09
We stayed there for a Photography workshop since that is where the workshop was. When we arrived, we checked in and were taken to our room. On the walk from the elevator to our room, we heard several LOUD dogs barking. It seemed every door we walked by had a bark. We went down to ask to be moved to another floor and on our way ran into several others who had already asked to move. We were told we had to come down to the front desk to move! Went down there, and while we were waiting to get room assignment changed, the girl answers the phone and spends 10 minutes with another guest describing wines (shouldn't his call be sent to room services to answer??) So finally after standing there for 10 minutes, we finally get our room key. They don't even offer to move our bags! We had to - we originally tipped a bellboy to take our luggage to our room! So then while in the morning workshop a ceiling tile falls on someone - I kid you not! Then after the seminar, we were tired and decided to eat dinner in the restaurant - thinking it would be quick. Our waiter sat us and then disappeared. We finally ordered after about 15 minutes. Wait another 15 and a waitress comes up and says the waiter has to take care of something and takes our order again. We kept waiting as another couple who had sat down 30 minutes after us got their food. We had been waiting over an hour at this point. I finally flagged down the waitress and asked what had happened to our order and she said she would check. She went on waiting on other tables and never came back. Our waiter finally came with our food and apologized and said it was on the house. We finished our food and waited another 20 minutes for him to come back with our dessert (part of special Valentines dinner). Never came back! We finally got up and walked out! We went to complain to the manager at front desk, he said sorry and that was about it. As we were waiting to get the rest of our meal, another couple had to go BEG for menus. And then after no one waited on them - 30 minutes later, they finally walked out! What a nice way to enjoy their special Valentines dinner.. The woman was so furious, she went looking for a manager to give him a piece of her mind.. All of the hotel staff was slovenly dressed - especially the front desk manager and all were very inexperienced! I will be telling the workshop coordinator of my experience, I know several others who were just as upset. The look of the hotel is very unique. It's just a shame that they don't have any management that can train the employees to do their jobs properly! I will not stay here again! I come to Nashville often and if the service was up to par - would have liked to stay here again. As it is, I don't think that will happen...Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your stay!

Do Not Stay At this Hotel
By Todd, 12/28/08
Where to start:reservation was wrong, assured a room overlooking the city, had to wait 1/2 hour for our room, given a poor room overlooking the ac units. There was a dog barking all night and must have urinated because the hallway stunk.Get It Now????Hardly, half the items not available and if they were, sooo overpriced it was ridiculous. They charge for EVERYTHING that most hotels include.Internet access was 9 dollars a day, music on tv,9 a day.Asked for ashtrays 4 times and after a 3 hours we got a sugar packet dish because they couldnt get into housekeeping.I was completely and utterly disgusted with the lack of service and attention to details that they so build their reputation on.I cant even begin to describe how badsthe experiance was. This was supposed to be a romantic weekend to propose but it turned into one problem after another.I travel around 50 days a year for work and stay at many differant hotels and this was the worst i experianced in 2 years.

Overrated on Internet
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/08
The descriptions/pictures, etc on the internet are overrated. From the internet it appeared to be modern, classy, something different. I was disappointed that it was none of those things. The interior hallways were dark and dingy. The door to the storage room behind the elevator was open and things were thrown everywhere in the storage room. Ants in the lobby restroom. Beds had a thick heavy comforter, no blanket in room. Doors of rooms would slam shut loudly. Room service was good, very close to airportat

Loved It!!!!
By toodles, 3/11/08
The service, GREAT, the price GREAT, cleanliness....VERY GREAT!!! The location is okay it is close to the mayjor parts of nashville, but it is also right off of Briley Park Way, lots of construction, very busy traffic. Literally the veiws from the windows on one side of the hotel are of the Park Way, not so great. The bar area...is well...a bar...a country bar. They do have a wonderful breakfast area. The pool is outside, no spa. You can however make apointments IN ADVANCE for in room massage sessions. The bedding is quite delightful. I hate the old comfurters that all the other hotels use, even the upscale ones. You know what I am talking about the flower paterned ones that are really thin. Well you wont find that at the Preston. Instead they have big fluffy white beddings, down comfurter and all. I was very pleased!!!!!!

Business Meeting Space
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/07
I chose Hotel Preston over the Internet for a small meeting, primarily because the more established hotels we have used in the past in Nashville were full on our meeting date (very short notice.) I had concerns about the mixed reviews I saw, so I called Marti Tillman, the hotel's sales director, to discuss my concerns. She made me feel very comfortable and assured me we would be well taken care of, and we were. The hotel is unique in its decor, and the rooms were excellent with comfortable beds, pillows, marble counters in the bath, Aveda products, a robe, a coffeepot - all the amenities found in pricier hotels. The restaurant food was well received (especially the hot wings, their specialty, which were awesome) as wass our buffet lunch, and the banquet staff was extremely responsive. When more people than expected showed up, Fedelia automotically adjusted the head count on our buffet lunch. They also tended immediately to concerns about meeting room temperature, etc. While their business center is not finished, I was allowed the use of their office equipment. The shuttle is available to take you on errands as well. Overall, the experience was excellent.

LOVE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/07
I loved the staff!!! They were so friendly and gave great directions or recomendations for places to go. I can not remember the guys name that was so friendly but he looked just like Justin Timberlake. All the girls were really nice but this guy really stands out in my mind!! I wonder if he is single... I will definitely be back!

Will always stay here!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
The Hotel Preston is a wonderful place to stay. You can't beat the service or the beds! Comfortable yet affordable, not overly crowded and they have a wonderful restaurant that serves some great food. I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE visiting Nashville or even just flying through on business. I can't say enough about their beds!! Feels like home. You will want to crawl in and never come out!! This is our preferred hotel for friends, family and co-workers.
