Do Not Stay At the hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/11
If you are ever in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, PLEASE DO NOT stay at this motel! On Saturday, September 4th, my sister-in-law and I were in the midst of a traffic standstill on the street in front of this inn. Traffic was NOT moving at all and my sister-in-law was in dire need of a restroom. She pulled into the parking lot of the inn (which, incidentally had MANY vacant parking spots) and rushed into the lobby of the inn and asked to use the restroom. She was told by the woman at the desk she could NOT use the restroom unless she was a guest of the inn. The woman told her to go to one of the shops next door. As my sister-in-law was walking to one of the shops, the woman's husband came out and told her she couldn't walk to a shop (next door) and told her to leave and get off the property. My sister-in-law was in dire straits and she desperately needed to use the bathroom. Traffic wasn't moving at all. He walked to the street and held traffic for her to enter the traffic flow (bumper to bumper) and we had to wait until we reached a service station at the end of the street. Thankfully, she didn't have to RENT their bathroom in order to use it!! I cannot believe ANYONE could be so uncaring as the couple who operate the Gatlinburg Inn! Was one flush going to break them? Come on!!

weird
By HikeswithLatte, 8/27/10
I live in the area and this place is creepy. Barbed wire all around it, only one way in and out and they've placed sharp rocks all over their wall to prevent people from sitting on it. It's like a compound. There are signs all over stating no motorcycles or food allowed. Which means you can't bring in even a pizza. If you like the Bate's Motel, you'll like this place, if not go somewhere else, Gatlinburg is full of nice hotels that want tourists.

No Other Place Like It
By RONALD TUCKER, 11/29/09
My husband and I have been going to Gatlinburg 32 years and discovered Gatlinburg Inn about 25 years ago. We go several times during the year and would not consider staying anywhere else. It is the "cleanest" hotel in the city and the charm of the hotel is wonderful. Mrs. Maples is a true "southern lady" and the staff truly displays a warm southern hospitality. She adheres to certain rules for the tranquility of the guests who stay there.

Turned a man & wife away ?
By Thomas, 9/17/09
I have been there several times. But the lady that wrote saying they were turned away just because they was on a motor bike, I hope that is not the way they do business. I have never rode on a motorbike, i just don't like hearing anyone being treated like that. I hope they filed a complaint ..

Completely Offended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/09
My husband and I were turned away from staying at this establishment solely because we were riding a motorcycle. Upon entering the reception area (with helmet in hand), I inquired about the availability of rooms and was told that yes there were rooms available, but the gentleman behind the desk said they do not rent to individuals on motorcycles (inn policy). My husband and I have enjoyed riding a motorcycle for many years and have never been turned away or treated so rudely. My husband and I are very respectable, clean-cut individuals with no criminal or troubled background. I am an accountant and my husband is a plant operator for our local municipality and is a special deputy for the county in which we live. We feel that we were treated with blatant discrimination and are extremely offended with the manner in which we were treated. On our return trips to the Gatlinburg area, even if we travel by car, we will never patronize such an establishment. Management, you should be ashamed of yourself for discriminating!!

We will be back!
By Jackie, 6/11/09
We have seen this Inn many times but it is off season. This year we made it in May. What a great place! Besides the best price for a very comfy room and the perfect location, you feel like you are Grandma's house. The place is spotless! We were even shown the room prior to deciding if we wanted to stay there. The staff is wonderful! You feel so safe knowing that someone is watching the grounds all night. Enjoyed just sitting in the rockers on the front porch and watching the people go by. We had a family suite with a beautiful view. Make sure you take the time to read the articles along the halls and to check out the old photograhs. If Mrs. Maples is in the lobby take a few minutes to visit with her and hear about the history of Gatlinburg and of the Inn. We will be heading back in a few months. This will be our new hotel destination while we are in Gatlinburg during the Inn's open times. Thank you Mrs. Maples for making us feel welcomed and safe!

A gem in Tenneesse
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/7/09
We love the Inn. It fits in with the mountains, and the hospitality of Tenneesse. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. It's in the center of all the places one needs to be. The security there helps us sleep better at night, *****

is like going home...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/19/08
When my children were small we stayed here and adored it! We were always treated like family. Now that my girls have found there own place in the world I often visit just to get away. Thank you Mrs Maples for all the great memories, Julie Garrett

Gatlinburg Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/08
We have stayed there three times in the last few years. I love it. I took my kids there, and had a blast. The ladies are nice, the lobby is fascinating and it is close to everything. I would recommend this place to everyone. It is the best place to stay in Gatlinburg. I like the fact that I did not have to drive anywhere. Everything was in walking distance, and the 24 hour guard was great too.
