Sands Ocean Club Resort, Myrtle Beach

My daughter, 3 year old grandson and I spent 2 nights here. We were told it is a family friendly resort. The first night, we decided to take my grandson to the outdoor pool after leaving the beach at about 6 pm. There was a huge bar party outside, everyone was drinking and obnoxiously loud. We went to the pool, but couldn't stay there, the party spilled over into the pool area. Later, after dinner, we fell asleep about 10 pm. There were intoxicated guests up and down the hall and we heard another guest telling them to shut up. We were awakened at 145am to a loud party going on in the hallway. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. About 45 minutes later we called again, the front desk person was rude on the phone, like we were bothering him. Finally, about 330 am we were able to go back to sleep. It was horrible. The room itself was just ok, it wasn't the cleanest, the balcony door got stuck open, the maid service consisted of just making the beds, not very neatly I might add. The building and indoor pool area are run down, we almost got stuck on the elevator twice..the door wouldn't open and when it finally did, it wouldn't stay open long enough for us to get off the elevator. We will never stay there again!!!

key cards don't work. neither does housekeeping, apparently. the room was filty and had an odor. the kitchenette had roaches. the sheets had not been changed since the last guest had "slept" there. the waterpark consisted of 2 small pools, hot tubs, and a very small lazy river. the sliding glass door kept coming off the track and getting stuck, of course we had no balcony so why bother with the door? the carpet was old and musty. all the furniture in the room looked water damaged. never again!

The place was clean and has much to offer. We did however get stuck in the elevator in the parking deck for a bit. Ocean annies bar is right at the pool which is great however the band ( Southside band ) gets annoying after a while because they are terrible and play from 1 pm to 11 pm. The food at the cafe is great. We would definately go back again.

Where do I start? I'll just make it short and sweet. The room was extremely dirty, there was mold and stains all over the carpet, they didn't bother to clean the diarhea off the toilet before we came. To top it off, house keeping made a second run to the room when they weren't supposed to and stole almost 400 dollars worth of my stuff. They will blow it off too, you will never see your items again.

I have stayed at sands ocean club for years and I have never had a problem. This is by far the most fun hotel I have ever stayed in. I would reccomend it to anyone. The people that trash the hotel maybe just had an unfortunate experience. I have never seen any cockroaches or had dirty towels or a dirty room. I will say that the outdoor pool is very crowded, but hey, what are they supposed to do? Kick people out after a time limit. And it does have things for kids to do. they have the lazy river and a kids club which is pretty fun and gives adults a break so they can relax. And they have built on another part to the hotel which has 4 computers with internet that can be used. Great Place : D

This was our groups 12th year staying at the Ocean Club and unfortunately the last. Arriving a day early the desk would not allow the extra night to be built into our package price and after 11 previous stays and them knowing who we were as valued customers, this was a poor manner to start a vacation. After paying $218 for the extra night stay, I was not even given a breakfast voucher and when asked if we could stay in the room for the remaining 5 nights, we were told we had to move to the upper floors...why we could not stay in the same room is beyond me, but still considering this no big deal at this point. The rooms seem to be run down and the owners are not putting any effort into keeping the places up to date and maintained. The maid service was poor at best and my daughters room was never cleaned or beds made. Towels were dirty, smelled and on 2 occassions our entire room was never cleaned or towels provided. The final trouble were roaches in our rooms, after complaining to the front desk, they acted as if this was the first case they have ever heard. We were switched into another room and on our final day there, saw a roach on my kids jacket sleeve. A couple in my group were given a free nights stay if they were to go back, due to the roach problem and poor service. I have written to 2 higher personnel people at Sands Ocean Club and Sands Resorts, but they have not responded. This is a true disappointment because it has always been a fun time at the Ocean Club, but the thought of possibly bringing home roaches from my vacation and poor service after so many years is unacceptable. I am not foolish enough to think that all hotels do not have vermin, but its their responsibility to keep up with the extermination process, which Sands is not.

This will be our third time at this hotel, we normally stay in a two bedroom suite, the rooms we have had thus far were more than I have ever expected and far, far better than the London Hilton at Gatwick which was such a disappointment. As a family with picky eaters we love the kitchen, its well set up and with a walmart just minutes away its perfect for us. I personally love the location of the pool, I can sit pool side, watch the kids and enjoy the beach with none of the mess at the same time. The onsite restaurants are not badly priced, just a shame they don't do room deliveries. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly not that I've had any reason to complain. I'd give this hotel a 5 out of 5!

People that have written bad reviews don't realize that these are condos owned by individuals and it is up to the owner to do any renovations to the room. Painting,new furniture, etc. - not all rooms are disgusting as have been mentioned in previous reviews - I have never had a bad room and have been going here every year for about 7 years now. I used to be an owner - my ex still owns the condo we bought. I would like to own in the future when I can afford to buy - If you want the Ritz - you have to pay for the Ritz - all the bad reviews are probably people who went the cheapest way they possibly could - you get what you pay for.

I will never stay at this hotel again. When we arrived @ 4:30PM we were told that our rooms were not ready and to come back around 6:00PM. We did and the front desk tried to charge more for a different type of room. When we finally got it all worked out and went to the room to find a great ocena view , but with dirty towels. This place needs to be renovated!

I will never stay here again. THe pillows on the sofa were disgustingly dirty. I called the front desk and they put a sheet over the pillows. THe second "bedroom" was a closet with those tiny beds. I wasn't even crazy about the view from the living room area. The place needs to be fumagated. With check in being at 4:00, your day is almost wasted. The band at Ocean Annie's only played country music. THey needed to mix it up. I don't drink, therefore, I was not impressed with the atmosphere at Ocean Annie's. I vacation at Myrtle Beach every year, but never will I stay at ANY of the Sands' properties. PeeMatt
