Pleasant View Inn, Westerly

We went to PVI the last week of August. We were lucky to get an ocean front room. We were on the top floor, on the end closest to Watch Hill. The views were breathtaking from our own private balcony. The room we had was very clean with a queen sized bed. There wa sa desk, chair, sitting chair, tv, dvd player, spacious closet, cleab bathroom with more than enough soft, big bath towels, hand towels and facecloths. Bed area was plenty big enough. The hallways are a little dark, but the room was easy to find. Restaurant was exceptional, you can eat inside or out on the terrace. Very quiet, very family oriented, no teenagers, partying etc.. LOVED hearing the sounds of the waves at night, put me right to sleep. A walk along the beach at night was beautiful. I already have a 5 day reservation for June!!!

i have been coming to this place since i was in diapers!!! its a reat place to tay and has great service and is right on the beach!!! it cant get any better than that so if u need a place to stay stay here u would be making a mistake not staying here!!! i love this place soo much!!!!there r so much family activites to do mini golfing carnival arcade and go carts ,waterslides and much more ITS A BLAST!!!!! pleasse listen to me when i tell u the people r very nice and its just a great place to stay belive me wen i tel u so i hope u choose the pleasent view inn becuase it is very very PLEASANT!!!!!

I agree with the dark and dank. The fact that it's on the water saves them. The price, however, for the very dated, faded rooms and a complete lack of handicapped access is unforgivable.

WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE PLEASANT VIEW INN FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS . THAT MUST REALY TELL YOU HOW GOOD IT IS . THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING THAT I FIND IS YOUR ROOM ISNT ALWAYS READY EARLY ENOUGH. BUT TO KEEP THIERS RATES A FAIR PRICE , I THINK THEY MADE HAVE CUT BACK ON MAID SERVICE .WE DO LOVE THIS PLACE VERY MUCH . THE OWENERS AND THE STAFF ARE ALWAYS VERY NICE . BOB +CATHY LYNCH

I have a long happy history with the Pleasant View Inn, going back to the early 1980's. The staff is friendly and the food is reasonably priced and good better than ever. The rooms are the rooms, a retro, sometimes dank but the beachfront rooms with balconies are very pleasant with a lot of ocean for the price. But there is a problem if you don't smoke or like smoke. Guests cannot smoke in the building, but they smoke freely and often on the grounds in high season. On a sunny July day in 2008, the small grassy strip between the hotel and the bar was full of not just cigarette smokers but guys with cigars in their Tommy Bahama shirts looking like bad guy extras off the set of Miami Vice. And they're walking around comfortably smoking them, sidestepping little kids and non-smokers as is their right. So if you like cigarettes and cigars, this is the place for you. And despite a hefty cleaning fee, in 2006 and 2008, we have managed to be booked next to smokers who continued their smoking inside their rooms which, the manager told us is not okay, but there you have it. I expect it at Foxwoods, not at the Pleasant View. The Terra Nova family needs to Just Say No and bring the place into the twenty-first century because a smoker friendly resort is not a family friendly resort. Bill P New York, NY

Very overpriced for what you get. Brochure is very deceptive. Staff is indifferent. Drinks were cheap -- $5. Very crowded. Hallways are dank, musty, and dark. Room was brighter, but just as dirty and smelly. Bedspread hadn't been washed since the Clinton administration. Beach houses are generally damp, and one expects that, but this place was truly awful. The bathroom had so much mold & mildew, it looked like a science project. The place is built up high on an artificial rock bluff, which reduces available beach space, forcing the guests to jockey for the shrinking beachfront as the high tide came in. Beach was less than a blanket wide at high tide. Traveller beware! You certainly can do better elsewhere for a lot less.

I have been staying at the Pleasant View Inn for years, in fact I often stay 3 or 4 times per year. I have been there once already this year and I have never once heard of or seen bugs of any kind in the rooms. The housekeeping staff is excellent. They are all very polite and extremely efficient. However, the Inn did not open this year until the 15th of May, so how anyone could say that on May 5th they had already had an unpleasant stay is beyond me. I love this place and I hope that I will be able to continue vacationing there for years and years to come.

I went to PV Inn last summer with my kids and grandkids. Our stay there was absolutely fantastic and more than we expected. We can't wait to go back again this year...

The owners were very friendly. It was quiet. The food was very tasty. It's one of the least expensive B&Bs in the area too. Stay here while you can! The owners are selling.

THE GOOD: Right on the ocean on a quiet stretch of beach, very friendly staff, nice sized swimming pool, kept immaculate. THE BAD: The rooms are really, really dated. I mean make-Motel-6-look-like-the-Ritz-Carlton dated. They're kept very clean, but theyre musty, cramped and contain zero amenities. Not even shampoo!! Worn mustly carpet, faded bed linens, an air conditioner from the 1970s. FOR $300/NIGHT AND UP, THAT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE. If they're charged $129/night, you'd think you'd found a bargain. But for the price they charge, it's just not okay.
