Poorly Maintained and Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/04/09
Ants in the room, dirty floor, ceiling water damanged, poorly maintained, noisy, disappointing breakfast menu, difficult to find (did not have street sign lighted at night), not a good value for the rate.

AVOID
By Josh, 08/30/09
It is the small things outside our room and one big thing, that has made this hotel one of the WORSE either of us have ever stayed at. First off there is no handicapped parking for my wife, who has a torn ACL and arthritis. We were placed about a football field away from the breakfast, which we have only gone to once, since it is likened to a elementary school breakfast,(hot juice?). The doors which are the entry into the guest corridors, slam constantly at all hours of the night, most nights we have averaged 5 hours of sleep. Finally the housekeeping is WAY TOO LOUD, they blare music from their office, we called the front desk to ask her to tell them to turn it down, she never did, we had to get the manager the next to tell them and they just turned it up after he left. It has ruined our time in this room, there is NO peace & quiet.

OK hotel.....mediocre staff
By nike z, 03/05/09
Despite my reserving on-line thru the Comfort Inn website, this hotel got my billing wrong and almost overcharged me by 20%. Upon checkout it took 35 minutes to correct. The clerk did not know how to handle a simple billing change. The assistant manager was equally clueless. Physically, the hotel continues to improve. The room rennovations are complete. Even though small, the beds and appointments are well done. Cleanliness has improved as well, but still not up to standards.....there was dust, dirtand candy wrappers under the heating unit. Gross! Staff attitudes continue to be less than stellar. A good human resources person with a comprehensive staff training plan would help make this a better place.

Would not go back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/09
Although the hotel was in a great location, the hotel itself was overall dirty. Cons: - Was not inviting - Had to change rooms twice - Top comforters dirty - Beds uncomfortable - Too $$$ for the lack of quality Pros: - Quiet building - Nice bathrooms - Nice views of the river - Free Breakfast Hotel had potential to be a nice hotel! Would not Reccommend to a friend!

Don't Do It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/08
Worst hotel I ever stayed in. Air conditioner would not work right. I told people at the desk, but nothing was done. Bad smell throughout the hotel. Rooms were dirty. (The same dirt and hair that was on the floor in the bathroom when I arrived was still there 4 days later when I left). Needs some major upgrades

Not a good place
By The Dining Man, 08/18/08
Location is great if you have business in downtown Harrisburg. However, do note that the Riverfront is a gathering place for the homeless. If you have to walk late at night, do so with a buddy. This hotel is undergoing renovations and boy are they needed. The new appointments are welcome, but they can't hide the fact that the rooms are small and the staff has little concept of 'customer service'. Also, the wireless internet is unreliable making business nearly impossible to conduct from the room (I had to go to the lobby). Breakfast is good with plenty of choices. However, some of the staff's food handling procedures are unhygienic. This is one of the few places in downtown Harrisburg where you can get last-second reservations and not have to pay an arm and a leg. Thus is has some convenience and price advantages.

Worst ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/08
Hotel going through renovations. I spent four nights there on business travel. On the first night, they had given away the room I had reserved (despite my indicating late checkin) and the new room had double beds (instead of a king), no alarm clock, no TV remote, no other amenities (iron, fridge, etc.). The room key also did not work. For the next night, I had to move out (they couldn't move my bags or store them) and ask for another room in the afternoon. I was then given a room that was obviously in use by someone else (food and belongings in the room). I was reassigned and the key did not work. The door to the room was warped so that daylight and a cool breeze came in the room (as well as noise). Each night I would finish work and return to find that the key didn't work. The desk clerk eventually gave us several keys, including one marked "staff". Outside the room was the mess of construction and jack hammering until 6:00. Halls were in awful, dirty, dusty, shape. The breakfast offered was lame and construction workers were constantly buzzing around (enjoying the breakfast bar by the way). Nobody should need to put up with this after a long day of work away from home.

Don't stay at this place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/08
Although the price was reasonable and the service was outstanding, the hotel is old and run down. It is also in a bad part of town. My major dislike was with the cleanliness; the hotel is just nasty. The rooms smelled musty from the mold and mildew. The carpet was stained and worn out. The furniture was outdated and in disrepair. Upon further inspection of the room, I discovered dried blood and semen on the sheets of my room. We checked out and moved to another hotel.

Nice View on the River
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/03/07
I stayed here in December and from reading some of these other reviews I find it hard to believe it was the same hotel. It was very easy to get to(easy on/off the highway), had a great view of the river, was within walking distance of the Capital buildings, and Whitaker Center for Science. So it's not a luxury hotel, but the room was comfortable and clean and the front desk personnel were very helpful with suggestions on what to see and where to eat. I would stay there again.

Horrible Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/06
This hotel is a disaster. The room stunk w/ cigarette smoke (and I reserved a non-smoking room). The carpet was torn & shredded w/ big holes. The bathroom was disgusting. There were even cob-webs in the shower. I asked for a river front room & was told there were none available. When I said I was leaving, then, all of a sudden a room came available (?). I checked in & out in less than an hour. I'll never stay here again & wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
