We love this Hotel!
By ,
My husband & I travel home to Philly every year to see family. This is a great location, that has a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are always clean with good linens. We always ask for a room away from the elevators, for a more peaceful sleep, and they delivered. They were able to get a suit drycleaned in 12 hours. Room service was what we asked for, and arrived at the time we requested. We have tried other hotels in the past. This Hotel is cheaper and they don't nickel & dime you with parking fees, etc. The staff is always asking what they can do for you, and mean it. You have a long time repeat customer in us. We will be back!

outstanding staff!
By ,
I spent almost a month at the Crowne Plaza under unusual circumstances: I was directing a theatrical production at the nearby St. Joseph's University, and just before arriving I fractured my left kneecap, so was on crutches the entire time. The hotel's location a couple of miles from the campus was excellent, and during my long stay I experienced many aspects of the place. The outstanding aspect of the hotel was the staff: without fail everyone was friendly and helpful, going out of their way to be kind and make things easier for me--opening doors, saving a copy of the local newspaper in the morning, not minding the way I needed to sit in the restaurant, getting cabs, letting me use the service elevator to get to the laundry room--always treating me like a guest, not a burden. Especially outstanding were bellmen Dean Kenner and Ben Rayburn and restaurant staff Serinah Thompson and Mac Chowdhury, but truly everyone was great, even when the hotel was full and everyone was busy. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices, too.

Good hotel
By ,
The staff was courteous, the room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the fruit-flavored cold water they dispensed in the lobby - esp. nice when coming in from a hot day. I appreciated all the different options in the complimentary breakfast nook. The only thing I didn't like was not the hotel's fault - a number of guests would come in from the pool dripping wet and barefoot and make puddles of water in or near the elevator. Memo to hotel guests: use towels and flip-flops, please - be civilized. The hotel was outside the main downtown area of Philly, but right next to a highway and only a short jaunt back into town.

Professional and competent staff
By ,
In my work as a tour escort I have the pleasure of staying in many fine hotels between Washington DC and New York City. I was very pleased with the exceptional service and comfortable rooms that Crowne Plaza City Ave. has provided my groups. Behind the desk, Chris has provided quick and efficient service, and the bellman, Mr. Smith was always happy to provide any assistance I require.

Superb visit!!
By ,
What an amazing visit we had - they covered every detail!! We love the hotel. Thanks a bunch. All desk and housekeeping personnel whom we briefly encountered were sooooo kind, and especially the morning staff in the restaurant (loved the buffet, too). The older woman hostess and our kind, modest, handsome waiter were delightful. The flavored waters in your lobby were a terrific welcoming touch.

Home Away From Home
By ,
We were in an interim living situation while waiting to move into our new home and the Crowne Plaza staff truly helped us feel as though we were at a second home! We had many challenging requests, such as extending our stay buy keeping adjoining rooms and all were accomodated. Extremely comfortable beds, clean rooms, great cleaning staff that had to deal with our children's messes! The pool and fitness room, as well as the convenient location to the city, museums and dining all added to a wonderful experience.

Very good option just right outside of Center City
By ,
If you need to stay in this general vicinity, the Crowne Plaza is a very good choice. Formerly a Holiday Inn, this older hotel has undergone some nice renovations to make it into a Crowne Plaza. Front lobby is nicely furnished and clean. Complimentary hot apple cider, flavored waters and apples are offered. Front desk clerk was very friendly - we checked into Room 536 without issue. Rooms are large - we had a room with 2 double beds. Very, very clean. There was a work desk and additional chair in the room as well. Sleep amenity packages are complimentary (complete with linen spray, earplugs and eye mask.) Beds are comfortable with nice linens. Bathroom is small, but again, very clean. No mini-fridge in the room. We were only staying for one night, so not a big issue, but if I had been staying longer, I would have requested a mini-fridge. The property offers a fitness center and an indoor pool with a whirlpool. Great for the kids. Pool is kept warm and temperature of the hot tub was perfect. We ordered room service for dinner since it was snowing. Food was brought up in 15 minutes and it was very reasonably priced for room service as well as tasty. Parking is complimentary at this property, which is a nice feature as well. A nice property - and yes, I would definitely return.

Very Impressed
By ,
My Fiance & I stayed there for game 3 of the World Series & we were very impressed with the service as well as the room. Everyone was so accommodating & friendly & the room was beautiful, much more than we expected. We will definitely recommend Crowne Plaza to all our friends staying in the Philly area & we ourselves will be back to stay whenever we are in the area. We thank you again for the excellent guest services & wonderful room that you provided.

Convenient to Bus Line, Eateries & Target
By ,
Hotel is located directly on the 44 bus lane to central Philadelphia. If you plan a visit in advance, go online to SEPTA and purchase one-day independence passes ($10 single or $25 family) for unlimited riding of bus, train & Philly Phlash sightseeing bus for one day. Your pass is "punched" & activated the day you begin using it. Very convenient. If you don't order your passes online, the hotel has a shuttle that runs to the transit station & other areas, you book the shuttle at a table inside hotel entrance. From hotel you can easily & safely walk to TGIFridays, Starbucks, Calif Pizza Kitchen, Chipotle, PNC Bank, and a Houlihans across the street (use overhead pedestrian bridge). Accomodations were comfortable, clean & conveniently located. Front desk was cordial & polite. Free parking. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
