Fantastic vacation
By Paula, 2/21/12
We received a wonderful deal for a 3 night stay that included food and gambling vouchers. Everywhere we went from the moment we checked in the staff was great, the restrurants and the waitpeople were the best! The room was older but clean with a view of the ocean that was breathtaking! We will be telling our friends about this place and will return soon! The only downfall was the Internet did not work in our room.

Major disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/10
When you pay $130+ dollars for a room you expect certain things. Within 5 minutes of checking into my room I heard a steady dripping in the toilet tank, the caulking around the tub / shower walls looked like a 10 year old put it on because there were huge gaps, all of the chairs in the room had nasty looking stains in them, and the heater in the room (small wall heater) was either on or off. I set the thermostat initially at 65 degrees but soon realized that it wouldn't shut off automatically. I called the front desk and they had a maintenance guy put a new flapper in the toilet. When I asked about the caulking and the stains on the furniture the person working the desk said "Well sir it's an old hotel". He then told me that he would see if my room was on the "Recaulking" list. I'll never stay there again.

I would not let my dog stay there.!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/10
First our room smelled like cat urine, then when we finally settled to relax the walls were so thin you could here the cockroaches watching the cockroach chanel, at least they got cable, because we shur didn't. When we asked why are cable did'nt work they were the most nonnolagable whirthless emploee's i've ever delt with . They had no idea what type of cable or satilte system they had and they told us we don't no and oh well was thier response . I could have gotten more information from a mime. Thanks for the memories CHINOOKWINDS (NOT). Inall my travels this is proof of a company that could give a about it's customers, Alway's remember truck drivers have a big mouth and love nothing better than to gossip the truth about places they were treated less than respectfull. OH AND IF YOUR CURIOUS I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH GIVING MY NAME Tim Wilson s.e. portland oregon.

We will come back ! By Sherry 5-28-2010
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/10
After reading the reviews I thought we would try it anyways and judge it for ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised. Because I have bad knees, they put us on the first floor, where I only had 5 steps to climb. The room was very clean and had a small refrigerator, micro wave and TV. There was a door that went out onto a small patio and the steps to the beach were just a few feet away. We were also close enough to the casino to walk there, or there was a shuttle we could take. The bed was very comfortable. The only negative thing I can say is, the bathroom sink and bathtub faucets were very hard to turn on. Other than that we had a great time and thought the motel was very nice. We will be back again.

It was Great
By Jeanne, 5/9/10
I booked the room before reading the reviews. Upon reading the reviews, I nearly canceled my reservation. Thankfully, I did not! We were in one of the rooms on the ground floor - B building. It had a king-sized bed, was a smoking room and we were allowed to have our dog. I noticed that the room was on the older side, like many people had mentioned. However, it was clean, a good size, and very comfortable. A few minor things needed repair, such as: bathtub caulking - white, but pulling away from wall in places; weatherstripping - needed to be replaced in some places on entry doors; carpet - a few cigarette burns - but that's to be expected in a smoking room; ceiling - there was a small water stain; also, on the front door, you could see where they painted over the old paint, without scraping it. Nothing terrible was wrong. There was nothing that ever made me think I might want to ask for a different room. The front desk staff was friendly, as were the housekeepers that came to our room each day. It was in a great, central location and we had a wonderful time. Now, we weren't in the room all day everyday; we were touring the coast, so we just needed a place to land. Also, we aren't gamblers, so we didn't go to the casino. Neither of us likes seafood (or the smell of it cooking), so we never ate in the grill. I had seen some other places available for the same price, but they didn't have the proximity to the beach as Chinook Winds, and I couldn't bring my dog. Chinook Winds was well worth the price and I would go again, anytime. I am very happy with my decision against canceling the reservation!

Dirty Dinning
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/26/10
Despite reading all the reviews, I also thought what the heck I'll try it. It was my wifes birthday and she wanted to go to the beach. The room was ok for 79 dollars (about like all the reviews). The bed was clean but was quite hard. For dinner we decided to go off our pre packaged food diet.(we have been on it for 3 months). We picked the Chinook Winds Seafood Grill. (BIG MISTAKE) The food looked good when it arrived at the table. The service was pretty good except the on duty manager was very forgetful. He forgot our drinks, our to-go box after he went to get it, and our 10% discount even after we showed him our room key. The big surprise came 5 hours after dinner. At midnight my wife woke very sick. And just when things where calming down I became ill. Since the bed was soiled, and we had nowhere to go, we checked out at 1;50 am and drove back to Portland. We where both diagnosed with food poisoning. After contacting the hotel Manager our room and meal charges have been refuned. Happy Birthday Honey!!!

i will go back too the hotel but not the casino
By straight shooter, 7/24/09
the hotel isn't that bad a little pricey its the old shilo inn and its taking them awhile too remodel it.the only problem i have is with the casino is the poor customer service some of the staff have and other things too.the bathrooms where nasty ash trays over flowing speaking about that that the ventilation is so bad in there you can smell it clear into the no smoking area.in between the machines where stacks of cups some have empty spilled all over the place you mention some thing too one of the janitors they run of and get there supervisor im not gonna say there name just that there on swing shift .she will get a security guard and tell them your harassing the workers and try and have you escorted out out of all the casinos in Oregon ive been too this ones the worse evan in Nevada there cleaner than this and Evan the security guards and workers are nice.

great time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/09
My husband and I spent June 21 through June 26 2009 at Chinook Winds Casino Resort and totally enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back! Our room was a nice roomy two queen size bed room with two chairs, a table, t.v. /drawer cabinet, night stand. The room was nice and large with a system for heat/air that was built in and we did not have to put up with the noise of a under window wall heater/air so many places have. The view from the large window was grand, we enjoyed just setting in the room watching the ocean and beach below. The casino was fun and the penny slots I played was loose and I got to play for hours. Nightly I won money, WHAT FUN!! Besides all the great fun we had I got to sell points for cash from my casino playing card before we left Ate at the buffet daily as well as the deli, We enjoyed!! For sure we will be going back, live in Idaho so can't get over there as often as would like to but we'll be going back, WE ENJOYED OUR SELVES AND ALL THE STAFF WE MET WAS NICE AS COULD BE TO US, THANK YOU CHINOOK WINDS From Phil & Shirley

Not the best place to visit
By Dave, 6/9/09
We came there asking for a handicap accessible room and the front desk peonnel said they had none and put us in a walk up second floor ocean view room. We discovered the next morning that building D actually had a few rooms that were handicap accessible on the ocean view First floor facing the ocean with a ramp instead of stairs. Staff is obviously poorly trained and not knowledgeable. Room was only OK but high priced This is a place to be avoided by senior citizens and handicapped individuals.
