10 reviews for Hotel Fifty, Portland
We LOVED our stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/09
We showed up one night after 11:00 p.m. Got a room, GREAT service. Loved our room. It was cozy and river view. Bed was crazy comfortable. But more than anything: the staff gave us great recommendations. AND the bar - WOW. Excellent "we can make that happen for you" attitude not to mention the very, very, VERY best french fries EVER (and their entrees were very nice.) We absolutely would go back and have referred many.

Lack of Concern
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/08
First and foremost, the staffs lack of concern for the guests needs addressing -health and safety issues was sorely lacking There was fire code violation (admitting in a letter that the smoke alarm was not connected) where the patrons cound have died if there was a fire, is quite shocking and the room being unsafe due to the lock being broken on the door of the overnight parking garage. It was inhabitable due to paint fumes and the new carpet thgat is clearly a health and safety issue. We were not told there were resonvations being made to the hotel. There was a car, in the unlocked garage, with its rear window smashed in. It remained untouched for hours, even after it was reported.

Great place for the price
By Rodger, 10/31/07
For the price, very reasonable. Trolly cars were at times loud (if you had the windows open)as the train tracks run on the street right next to the hotel. On the other side was the river and it was pretty nice...those rooms ran at $160+...we paid $75.00 a night plus $15.00 a nite for parking. Rooms were very clean and the bed was not too soft. We will return in February and may stay at the same hotel...except on the other side---to avoid the train tracks. Portland was beautiful that weekend. If you like Japanese food, check out the place on 23rd. street. Good fish and Good price....AVOID THE GREEK REST. DOWNTOWN. We went for breakfast and it took 30 minutes to cook 3 eggs and than charged us $10.00. There were only 5 other tables full with people in a place that seats about 100 plus.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
Not clean, noisey, tub did not drain, room was hot I felt that because I paid a lower rate I should be happy with the room I got.

Location, location, and location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
It was a very pleasant stay for our family where we spent 7 nights at this hotel. Location is excellent; close to shops, restaurants, MAX, and Waterfront Park (for the July 4th fireworks). Yes, it's noisy sometimes and I wish the AC works better, but overall, the positives outweigh the negatives and I'll definitely come back and stay at this hotel again.

A BARGAIN.
By Bonnie, 09/29/06
It was one of those trips where anything that could go wrong, did. Due to the construction going on in downtown Portland, and around our hotel, we spent nearly an hour driving in circles (we're persistent) before resorting to calling the hotel and receiving turn-by-turn directions. Upon arrival we were informed that they had no room for us. Before I had a chance to loose it they informed us that due to severe rains this older hotel had suffered some damages making some of their rooms uninhabitable, BUT they would be covering our first nights stay at the nearby Marriott. Everything was handled flawlessly. Following a wonderful night at the Marriott, we moved to the Sheraton the following morning. The Sheraton had covered ALL of our costs at the Marriott excluding room service, and our room was available immediately upon our arrival. No, it's not the Marriott, but it was a wonderful hotel in an outstanding location providing views of the river, with great service at an affordable price. Perhaps due to construction in the area we were not affected by the trams, and even with a marathon going on across the street, our stay was not disrupted. I wish all of my hotel experiences were this pleasant.

Sheraton must dump this junk to save all Four Points hotels!
By Dave, 03/26/06
1. Noise Downtown lightrail goes by right outside the window from 4:30 AM to 1:00 AM, every 2-5 minutes. Some blow horns, all feel like earthquack when they pass. Poor sound-proof in room - You hear the TV from next-doors. Hear people talk from next room. Most horoble, you hear LOUDLY when they use flush toilet or take shower. 2. Bed The Mattress is OK but it's still blanket, like other motels. The cover is so heavy you don't want to use it. 3. Air condition When I enter the room, the temp is set to 40 degree - it's out of order. 4. Smell Smells, too! Just go to Econolodge - you saved some money, at least! For this "Four Points", obviously Sheraton took bribe or it's market-share strategy. But either way bad - put a Sheraton name on such junk "hotel" only cost the business for all Four Points hotel worldwide! I wouldn't want to even get paid to lose a night of good sleep. You?

Portland Oregon downtown Sheraton great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/05
This hotel is right on the waterfront (Tom McCall Waterfront Park) and walking distance to tons of great shops and Portland Saturday Market. The rooms have huge pillows on the bed. We were able to put 4 people on the two beds, with one on the floor sleeping on a bed made of the extra pillows. Rooms are a bit small but service is great, parking is included if you ask for a deal, and it's definitely not crowded. Overall, a great value, with rooms as low as $79 plus tax on non-holiday weekends. Going through the Chamber of commerce results in lower prices sometimes.
